    Wasted money, wasted day!

First off, this was the worst tour we've ever booked. Second, these experiences are rarely perfect, they are usually what you make of them; that said, there was no way to put a positive spin on this. Third, I used to trust what people said on certain booking sites; I will never trust them again. I will start by saying we were so disgusted we left the tour early and took the ferry back to Cancun at a cost of $80 (ferry and taxi). The hotel pick up was on time comfortable and efficient. That was easily the highlight of the trip. Check in was hot and slow, unless you like being herded like cattle. We sat on the dock for 45 minutes leaving a half hour late. The boats, two in our sailing, we're severely overcrowded. There was not even enough space for everyone to sit (hopefully I can attach photos at the end). I have to believe even Mexico has safety standards that do not allow this many people on board. We were lucky enough to find seating outside on the back of the boat in the shade, my wife on a padded bench, me sitting on the hard deck. At one point in the trip someone was looking for a place to sit and one of the extra rude crew (they were all very unfriendly) indicated the people on the bench, who were already elbow to elbow, all move together to make room. My wife, trying to be polite and not wanting to be crammed between two other sweaty people, removed herself from the bench and came and stood by me in the sun. This apparently upset the rude crew member who called over a supervisor, gestured wildly toward my wife, and said something in Spanish. The supervisor came over to ME and wanted to know if we had any questions about the seating, as if we had done something wrong. I explained my wife was trying to be polite and that they needed to provide more seating with this many people. He replied in Spanish and left. The snorkeling was lame, but hopefully no one books this trip in hopes of having a great snorkeling experience. 50 people flailing around in the water, playing follow the leader. Maybe 15 minutes of actual snorkeling. No instruction on how to adjust the equipment. We were informed just before getting in the water to not apply any sunscreen to protect the reef. Of course we all had sunscreen on by then. They obviously do not care about the reef. Lunch was next, if you could call it that. We were all herded in to a giant palapa, music blasting, and someone pointed us in the direction of the buffet. There were flies everywhere and the food was disgusting. I didn't eat anything, my wife had two bites of chicken. The restrooms (which we're sorely needed since the onboard toilet was broken) had no toilet paper and no toilet seats. We were told to be back at the boat by 2. We showed up three minutes early and we're told we needed to wait on the dock in the hot sun until 2 even though the crew was just standing around doing nothing. I protested and was told, "you wait!" Back on the boat and headed to the promised beach club at the North Beach, a peaceful place we had been to twenty years ago and were looking forward to revisiting. During the boat ride I spoke to the supervisor and explained we were considering leaving the tour and going back on the ferry. I simply wanted to know if they needed to know if we were going to leave (trying to do the right thing). He produced a piece of paper stating we were leaving and expected no compensation and they had no liability, and insisted I sign it. I explained we would see how the beach club was and then decide if we were to leave. He still insisted I sign it (apparently he knew how I would feel about the beach club). I refused and he muttered something flattering in Spanish and left. To our surprise we didn't dock at North Beach, we docked in the middle of town just north of the ferry terminal (that turned out to be fortuitous!). Ok, whatever, off to the beach club to cool off in the water and relax. Surprise, instead we all lined up on the dock like cattle, stood on the hot sun for 5 or 10 minutes and we're then marched off across the hot sand, through a crowded restaurant, across a busy street, to a JEWELRY STORE!!! That was the last straw. I politely explained to the three crew members herding us that we just wanted to find someplace to sit down and have a cold drink. They said that was free at the beach club. I explained I didn't see any beach club and I was not going in the jewelry store and that I wanted to know where I could get a cold drink. Suddenly no one spoke English anymore. We left. We found a nice shady restaurant on a side street, got a cold drink and some actual food, and consulted the ferry schedule. Isla Mujeres is not the funky little enclave it was 20 years ago. Like much of this part of Mexico it's been over commercialized and it's just not worth the effort. I would implore the booking company (they told me I couldn't use their name in my review, rhymes with drip contrivor) to take a hard look at this company that proudly displays the booking company insignia. They are not up to booking company standards, or at least the standards they once adhered to. I hold the booking company as responsible for this wasted day and money as much as I hold the tour company responsible. I will try to add photos of the overcrowded boats and our ferry tickets so you can be confident this is a REAL review.

    Isle mujeres

The boat staff and experience were fantastic... not enough time spent on the beach, sunbeds were extortionate. The transfer although only 35mins took 1hr 20... the wait for the boat was hot and crowded.

All Inclusive Isla Mujeres Catamaran: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cancun.

How much does All Inclusive Isla Mujeres Catamaran cost?

    +

Prices start at $750 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cancun usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does All Inclusive Isla Mujeres Catamaran take?

    +

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cancun is not rushed.

Is All Inclusive Isla Mujeres Catamaran worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 72 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 2,943 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Cancun, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule All Inclusive Isla Mujeres Catamaran?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is All Inclusive Isla Mujeres Catamaran suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book All Inclusive Isla Mujeres Catamaran?

    +

Around 1,030 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cancun can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cancun and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does All Inclusive Isla Mujeres Catamaran start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cancun within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cancun?

    +

On Outty we rank every Cancun experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Early Access to Chichen Itza All Inclusive with Valladolid and Cenote Swim, Whale Shark Tour from Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum and Riviera Maya, Small-Group 3 Hidden Cenotes Adventure with Tequila Tasting. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cancun?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cancun?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
