Good experience

Great adventure. The location is good. The tour guide and taxi driver were both very helpful. They helped hire horse for me. And made marshmallow! I am rating 4 instead of 5 because of communication issue at pickup. I ended up waiting for 30 min at 6am before I was picked up. And the guide though super nice, knew very limited English.

The ride was supposed to last 7 hours but removing the 3 hours round trip, it was only 2h30 there? Disappointed with this shortcut. But nice ride and beautiful view

Good hike but poor communication

First, communication was lacking. I only received a message the night before the event with my pickup time. The driver was punctual, but he dropped me off at a café without explaining that I needed to change buses. He only spoke Spanish, even though I specifically requested an English tour. Another passenger had to explain the bus change to me. The second bus had no ventilation or A/C, and I later learned that most passengers paid $20 for the same tour while I had paid $80. The new driver also spoke only Spanish, and through other passengers and Google Translate, I found out that we were expected to pay the Pacaya Volcano admission fee separately. I reached out to the tour agent via WhatsApp, who confirmed that the admission fee was included in my package and that I would have an English-speaking guide. When we arrived at the volcano, the guide Carlos spoke both Spanish and English, which was reassuring. He was kind, and was considerate of everyone’s walking pace. However, what truly alarmed me was at the end of the tour: I told Carlos I was going to use the restroom, and when I came out, the bus had already left without me. I had to run after it, yelling for them to stop. Thankfully, Carlos and some vendors ran after the bus as well, and the driver eventually stopped. Not doing a headcount before leaving is unacceptable and extremely upsetting. Because of these issues, poor communication, lack of clarity on pricing, no guaranteed English guide, and most importantly, leaving me behind, I cannot recommend this tour.

Response from the operator: Ghank you for let me know about the drivers and service. We were explicit that with one person is impossible to guive the service that you require. Next time think about it in doing a solo bookings.

Family Trip 2024

The tour was fun, the guide was very informative and interactive. We not only got detailed information on the volxano, we were also given information on some of the plants and insects that we would come by on the trail down. Again, our guide was excellent! Transportaion was comfortable, staff was very polite and offered assistance with every query we had. I would definately recommend if you want a memorable tour.

Fantastic tour

Amazing hike! The host greeted us and made sure we were safe traveling to and from the volcano. Provided us with a nice healthy lunch , sandwiches, apple, a snack and water. Which was so appreciated as we were stuck in a road block for a few hours due to flooding. The driver ensured we got back safely. Highly recommend booking with this company.

+

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Antigua?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Antigua?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
