A must do in Sri Lanka!!
My family of four + cousins did this adventure two days ago. Amongst us, we have four teenage boys - not an easy group to impress. This was by far one of their campfire travel experiences EVER. And to put it in perspective, we’ve been to 40+ countries with our kids and are always seeking out fun outings. We chose to do “Experience C” which includes waterfall abseiling (rappelling for anyone in the US), rafting, and canyoning (which included rock slides and confidence jumps which is basically cliff diving - but not as high as what you might normally picture). This all was amazing! I’ll break down each here: We started out rafting. While these aren’t the longest or toughest rapids we’ve done, they were pretty fun! Some parts were calm, some had rougher rapids, and through it all, we trusted our guides and had fun rowing. We definitely got soaked, which felt amazing in the heat. In the middle of the rafting, we “parked”, then did a detour to the canyoning and confidence jumps. Okay, so this was way out of my comfort zone, but my kids peer pressured me to try. And I had a blast. You basically do a series of slides and jumped to pass through the pathway. It’s so fun, and we felt very safe. We had life vests on through it all, so no fear, and the guides were always there to help us. If you got panicked and didn’t want to do a jump or slide, you can walk around it (as some in our group did). After this, we got back on the raft to finish the rapids. Then we took a jeep ride to a 130 ft waterfall. It was exhilarating to rappel down it. The guide was great at taking amazing pics and video of us the whole time. The scenery at the waterfall was the most stunning we’d seen in all of Sri Lanka. In all, this experience was about 5 hours. Definitely do this if you are looking for something off the beaten path. We haven’t had sun a fun, unique day in a long time across all of our various travels. The safety precautions felt safe and the communication upfront and during was timely and thorough (use WhatsApp for all communications).
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a detailed and thoughtful review. It truly means a lot to our entire team. Impressing four teenage boys is no small feat — so hearing that this turned out to be one of their best travel experiences ever, especially after visiting 40+ countries, honestly made our day! We’re thrilled you enjoyed Experience C and that each part — from rafting and canyoning to the waterfall abseiling — lived up to expectations. It’s especially great to hear that even stepping outside your comfort zone turned into a highlight, and that our guides made you feel safe, supported, and confident throughout the experience. Capturing memories is something we really care about, so we’re glad the photos and videos, along with the scenery at the waterfall, stood out for you. And thank you for mentioning our safety standards and communication — those are things we work hard on behind the scenes. It was an absolute pleasure having your family and cousins adventure with us. We hope this becomes one of those stories your kids keep talking about for years — and we’d love to welcome you back for another off-the-beaten-path experience when you’re next in Sri Lanka 🌿🚣♂️ Safe travels and thank you once again!

Cool and varied activities!
Cool and varied activities done! Abseiling down the waterfall was a great experience. Then rafting through the river was also fun. Finally, with good guidance, I did canonying, which was certainly successful!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind words! We're thrilled to hear you enjoyed the variety of activities — from the adrenaline of abseiling and rafting to the adventure of canyoning. It’s always our goal to provide safe, fun, and memorable experiences, and we're glad you felt well-guided throughout. We hope to welcome you back for more adventures soon!

Waterfall Abseiling, Rafting, and Canyoning
Fantastic adventure! The main attraction, that is, descending the waterfall, is a huge adrenaline kick. Rafting also turned out to be amazing, especially with such beautiful landscapes. Slides and jumps into the water during canyoning are pure fun, though it requires overcoming some initial hesitation! For the trip itself, I recommend comfortable water shoes (ours worked excellently) and don't be afraid to bring your phones for taking photos - you'll get a waterproof bag, although the only real risk of it getting submerged is during rafting.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your lovely review. It was a pleasure having you with us. Looking forward to having you with us again for more adventures.

Why this scores 58
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Adventure Experience C in Kitulgala: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kandy.
How much does Adventure Experience C in Kitulgala cost?
+
Prices start at $60 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kandy usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Adventure Experience C in Kitulgala take?
+
Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kandy is not rushed.
Is Adventure Experience C in Kitulgala worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 58 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 3 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Kandy, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Adventure Experience C in Kitulgala?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Adventure Experience C in Kitulgala suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 12. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 6-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Adventure Experience C in Kitulgala?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kandy can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kandy and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Adventure Experience C in Kitulgala start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kandy within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Kandy?
+
On Outty we rank every Kandy experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Explore Kandy City Tour by Tuk Tuk, Tours and Transportation in Sri Lanka, Chauffeur guide and Tour organizer. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Kandy?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Kandy?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
