Advanced Dog Sledding at Camp Tamok
Had a great day with the family at Camp Tamok. The crew and guides were very friendly and helpful. We booked the advanced dogsledding tour and our guide Stefan did a great job both before, during and after the sledding tour. We were allowed to spend additional time with the huskies after the sledding tour and met the reindeers afterwards.
Response from the operator: We’re thrilled your family had a great day at Camp Tamok! It’s wonderful that our guides, the advanced sledding tour, and the time with the huskies and reindeer made the experience so memorable.

Advanced dog sled tour to Camp Tamok, beautiful hike!!!
Superb night hike, (it was 4pm but given the period in the middle of the polar night it was already dark), with a sledge pulled by 5 wonderful Huskies for a sledge for two people. Transfer by comfortable bus from Tromso of a couple of hours to go and a couple back. An hour then between dressing, explanation of how to drive the sledge and preparations before departure. Then we leave, following a snowmobile that guides the huskies and their sleds along the way. The ride lasts an hour, it is quite challenging in the first half, because there are a few climbs, and the sled driver has to help the dogs, pushing the sled with the other participant inside, in the steepest and steepest points. On the course there is always the assistance of the staff to help manage the sled in the most difficult moments. Then on the way back, the beautiful and affectionate huskies greet and cuddle, and after undressing, we go to a Sami tent to enjoy an excellent fish soup with bread and hot drinks, before returning. Hike absolutely recommended, maybe it could be lengthened a little more and the route could be better prepared, not so much for the climbs that are part of the beautiful place where Camp Tamok is located, but you could flatten a little the most irregular parts that cause stops of the huskies, for some off-piste with sleds, however fun in the soft surrounding snow. Top experience, wonderful and recommended!!!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! 🌟 We’re thrilled to hear that you had such a memorable experience on the Advanced Dog Sledding Tour to Camp Tamok. It sounds like you truly embraced the adventure, from the beautiful ride through the polar night to the excitement of guiding the huskies through the rugged terrain. We’re glad you enjoyed the interaction with the huskies—they truly are special, and it’s heartwarming to hear that you appreciated their company. And of course, the Sami tent with fish soup and hot drinks is the perfect way to warm up after such an exhilarating experience! Thank you for your thoughtful suggestion about the route, too! We always appreciate feedback on how we can improve, and we’ll certainly keep that in mind as we continue to refine our tours. It means so much to us that you recommend this excursion, and we hope to welcome you back for more unforgettable Arctic experiences in the future!

Fantastic!
My Boyfriend and I did the dog sledding today and it was absolutely wonderful! The sledding was a fantastic adventure across a magical landscape, the dogs clearly enjoyed themselves a great deal too! Our tour guide, Kira, was great on the bus journey to the kennels and she told us a lot of about the landscape and Norwegian culture. When we got to the kennels Domen was brilliant - he was really friendly, knowledgeable, and (most importantly) he clearly respected and loved the dogs very much. Domen's assistant (sorry I can't remember your name!) was also super lovely and really friendly and kind. We had lots of cuddle time with the dogs after the sledding, followed by hot coffee and cake. It was a wonderful way to spend the morning, thank you so much for the lovely memories.

Advanced Dog Sledding at Camp Tamok: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Tromso.
How much does Advanced Dog Sledding at Camp Tamok cost?
+
Prices start at $357 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Tromso usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Advanced Dog Sledding at Camp Tamok take?
+
Plan for about 6.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Tromso is not rushed.
Is Advanced Dog Sledding at Camp Tamok worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Tromso, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Advanced Dog Sledding at Camp Tamok?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Advanced Dog Sledding at Camp Tamok suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Advanced Dog Sledding at Camp Tamok?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tromso can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tromso and add a light layer if any part of the 6.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Advanced Dog Sledding at Camp Tamok start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Tromso within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Tromso?
+
On Outty we rank every Tromso experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Chasing Lights: Aurora Big Bus Chase (All Photos Included), Tromsø: Small Group | Northern Lights Chase + All-Inclusive, Tromso Northern Lights Minibus Chase Small Group Tour with Photos. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Tromso?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Tromso?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
What is included in Advanced Dog Sledding at Camp Tamok?
+
Included: Self drive dog sledding; Tea and coffee; Husky driving license; English-speaking guide; and Winter overall suit, boots, mittens, hat. Always check the voucher for the final list before you travel.

+
