Excellent Driver and Tour Guide for Philae Temple. Disappointed with the Abu Simbel experience
Excellent Driver and Tour Guide for Philae Temple. Was very disappointed with the Abu Simbel experience and the way we were treated by the guide even though we paid for the premium explorer option. Excellent driver, very patient respectful and drives safely. He informed of all upcoming activities along the way and ensure there is a stop between long drives. Abu Simbel temple was beautiful and a must see however, we paid for a private tour and we expected the tour guide to stay with us and physically guide around the temple complex. Noting that guides aren't allowed in the temples, however we observed many guides providing explanations about the temples prior to tourists entering so they knew what they were looking at and understood the history. We were very disappointed to learn that the tour guide asked us to go and walk around the complex with no explanation prior and then spent 15 mins when we returned to meet him at the visitor centre explaining what we had seen using printed pictures. Our guide however for the Philae temple was wonderful, she took the time to make sure we understood the history of the temple and had the best experience. Thank you Fatima for the care you took with us, you could clearly see how knowledgeable you are and how much pride you take in your work!
Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us on your Day Tour at Abu Simbel and Philae Temples. We truly appreciate your kind words about our driver and your guide at Philae Temple, Fatima. We're delighted to hear that you felt well cared for and informed during that part of your journey, and we’ll be sure to pass along your compliments to Fatima—she’ll be thrilled to know her efforts made such a positive impact. We’re equally grateful for your honest feedback regarding the Abu Simbel portion of your tour. We're very sorry to hear that your expectations for the premium experience were not fully met. You're absolutely right—while guides are not permitted inside the Abu Simbel temples, it is standard practice to provide a thorough briefing beforehand to help bring the site’s rich history to life. We regret that this was not done in a timely or meaningful way for you and will address this directly with the guide involved to ensure better service moving forward. Your feedback is incredibly valuable in helping us uphold the quality and consistency we strive to deliver across all of our tours. We hope we’ll have the opportunity to welcome you again in the future and provide you with a more seamless and enriching experience throughout. Is Abu Simbel & Philae Private Day Trip from Aswan worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 46 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4/5 across 1 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Aswan, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Is Abu Simbel & Philae Private Day Trip from Aswan suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Abu Simbel & Philae Private Day Trip from Aswan?
+
Around 0 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Aswan can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Aswan and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

What are the best things to do in Aswan?
+
On Outty we rank every Aswan experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include 4-Day 3-Night Nile Cruise from Aswan to Luxor&Abu Simbel+Balloon, 4-Day 3-Night Nile Cruise from Aswan to Luxor - Private Tour, 3 or 2 or 1 Nights Mighty Nile Felucca Adventure. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Aswan?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Aswan?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
