Lake Nasser
Lake Nasser is a vast reservoir in southern Egypt and northern Sudan. It is one of the largest man-made lakes in the world. Before construction, Sudan was against the building of Lake Nasser because it would encroach on land in the North, where the Nubian people lived. They would have to be resettled. In the end Sudan's land near the area of Lake Nasser was mostly flooded by the lake. The lake is some 479 km (298 mi) long and 16 km (9.9 mi) across at its widest point, which is near the Tropic of Cancer. It covers a total surface area of 5,250 km2 (2,030 sq mi) and has a storage capacity of some 132 km3 (32 cu mi) of water. The lake was created as a result of the construction of the Aswan High Dam across the waters of the Nile between 1958 and 1970. The lake is named after Gamal Abdel Nasser, one of the leaders of the Egyptian Revolution of 1952, and the second President of Egypt, who initiated the High Dam project. It was President Anwar Sadat who inaugurated the lake and dam in 1970.

Abu Simbel is worth the drive
Abu Simbel was worth the drive. We went the last day of our cruise as an add-on through Egypt Cruise Era. Since it wasn’t too hot, our wonderful guide, Mahmoud Farah, planned for us to leave at a great time where we missed the crowds from the morning tour but it wasn’t too hot. It was about a 3 hour drive down there with a rest break midway. When we got there, Mahmoud did what he does best and explained all the things we were going to see and the process in which it was moved and used visual cards. Then he gave us free time to explore. There was hardly anyone there because it was the afternoon, which was rare and a treat. After the tour, Mahmoud pulled some strings to get us into a lunch at a nearby restaurant. The Tajin was soooo good!

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Aswan.
How much does Abu simbel private day tour from Aswan cost?

How long does Abu simbel private day tour from Aswan take?
+

Is Abu simbel private day tour from Aswan worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 58 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Aswan, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Is Abu simbel private day tour from Aswan suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Abu simbel private day tour from Aswan?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Aswan can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Aswan and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Abu simbel private day tour from Aswan start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Aswan within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Aswan?
+
On Outty we rank every Aswan experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include 4-Day 3-Night Nile Cruise from Aswan to Luxor&Abu Simbel+Balloon, 4-Day 3-Night Nile Cruise from Aswan to Luxor - Private Tour, 3 or 2 or 1 Nights Mighty Nile Felucca Adventure. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Aswan?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Aswan?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
