Similar to Shibuya (its counterpart in Tokyo) the lights and sounds of Dotounburi often lead you astray to overly-commercialised restaurants with queues of tourists outside. Great food and great conversation!!

We shared a wonderful evening with Kurt in Osaka. We were lucky to have him all to ourselves and enjoyed getting to know him and benefit from his local knowledge of the district - we got off the main drag and into some less touristy areas. Great food, great drink and great conversation as well as sightseeing in a 4 hour tour of Dotonbori - wouldn't change a thing! Thanks, Kurt!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for sharing such a wonderful review! Sounds like you experienced exactly what we love about our tours, discovering hidden corners beyond the main tourist spots, enjoying great food and drinks, and having plenty of good conversation along the way. We’ll be sure to share your kind words with Kurt! We’re so happy he could make your evening special, and we hope you’ll have many more wonderful adventures in Japan.

AMAZING TOUR

We had an amazing experience! We did the Osaka food tour on our last night in Japan and it was the best ending to our trip! Ken and Rio were both amazing and extremely knowledgeable about the food and culture. We visited two spots for appetizers and then one for the main meal. It was so much food we were so full by the end of it! We then went to get traditional deserts and it absolutely hit the spot. Could not recommend this tour more to anyone who wants an amazing tour of Osaka and amazing food. Thank you Ken and Rio for an unforgettable last day in Japan!

Response from the operator: Wow! What an incredible review. Thank you so much! Ending your Japan trip with an evening of great food and company is definitely one of the best send-offs! We're so happy that Ken and Rio helped make your final night in Osaka truly unforgettable with their knowledge of the city's food and culture. From the appetizers and main meal to the traditional desserts, it truly sounds like you were able to get the most out of the city's food scene at every stop, and that you left happy and full! We truly appreciate your amazing recommendation, and we hope to welcome you back for another adventure in Japan sometime soon!

Not woth the money

This was not a real street food experience. Instead we visited a few low end restaurants with low quality food. Food value i estimate to be 20 euros on this a 200 euros trip per person. This is basically cheating people. I recommend strongly to avoid this trip.

Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re genuinely sorry to hear that this experience did not meet your expectations. This is one of our popular Osaka tours and usually receives wonderful feedback from guests who enjoy its mix of local favorites, neighborhood atmosphere, stories, and food. The stops are intentionally chosen to include the kinds of casual, local places that Osaka residents love, alongside spots that we feel are interesting and welcoming for visitors. The experience is also about much more than the cost of the individual dishes, including a knowledgeable local guide, curated stops, cultural insights, and several hours exploring Osaka together. That said, we are always open to feedback and improvement. We will review your comments with the guide, including the food choices and stops selected that evening, to see where we could have delivered a stronger experience. We’re saddened that this particular tour style wasn’t the right match for what you were hoping for, but we appreciate you sharing your perspective and will absolutely take it into consideration.

Excellent food tour. Highly recommended.

The tour was excellent and just what we were looking for as a food tour and taster for Osaka generally. We had a fun evening in the heart of the city, with plenty of variety food-wise. Tomo was an engaging and knowledgeable guide. We highly recommend this tour.

Response from the operator: We're delighted the tour was exactly what you were hoping for! Exploring Osaka through its incredible variety of food is always such a fun way to get to know the city, and we're so glad Tomo's knowledge and engaging personality helped make the evening all the more enjoyable for you! Thank you so much for your amazing recommendation, it means the world to us!

Absolute Osaka Food Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Osaka.

How much does Absolute Osaka Food Tour cost?

+

Prices start at $116 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Osaka usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Absolute Osaka Food Tour take?

+

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Osaka is not rushed.

Is Absolute Osaka Food Tour worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 84 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 332 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Osaka, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Absolute Osaka Food Tour?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Absolute Osaka Food Tour suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Absolute Osaka Food Tour?

+

Around 116 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Osaka can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Osaka and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Absolute Osaka Food Tour start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Osaka within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Osaka?

+

On Outty we rank every Osaka experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Hungry Osaka Street Food Tour:15 Tastings & 3 Drinks with a Local, Ultimate Osaka Walking Tour: Castle, Dotonbori, Gems & Lunch, Osaka Castle Walking Tour and Castle Tower Admission. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Osaka?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Osaka?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
