Amanohashidate, known as “Heaven’s Bridge” and ranked among Japan’s three most scenic views, where a 3.6 km pine-covered sandbar stretches across Miyazu Bay creating a stunning natural landscape. You can walk or cycle along the path, ride the cable car or monorail (JPY 1000, self-paid) up to the observatory for the iconic view, and try the playful tradition of bending down to look at the scenery upside-down through your thighs, which makes the sandbar appear as if it were floating in the sky. Nearby, visit Chionji Temple, famous for its impressive Sanmon gate and its charm as one of the three great wisdom temples of Japan, where students and visitors come to pray for academic success. Lunch is at your own expense, and please note that some attractions may be skipped due to weather or capacity conditions.
