Beautiful place, even better with a tour guide
A must-see stop in Rome. It's such a beautiful art gallery. I thought it would just be paintings but there's so much sculpture as well. This is a ticket into the gallery at your scheduled time and a link to a limited audio tour app. You arrive, drop your backpack at the coat check which is free. Then they scan your ticket and you step inside and that's all there is to it. The tour app doesn't cover much, I was hoping there would be remarks and info on each piece in the entire gallery but it's more of an overview of the whole gallery. I thought the gallery was magnificent, to be sure. But I'd say definitely go with a tour guide, I passed by so many while I was there and the guides they have are remarkable with the insight they have on the art. Seeing it solo is fine too if you have a mind to explore and soak in the art on your own. But HOWEVER you visit the gallery, you should.
Response from the operator: Dear Kurt Fabisch, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and for your kind words about the Borghese Gallery. We are delighted to hear that you found it magnificent and consider it a must-see stop in Rome. At the same time, we are sorry that our ticket and audio guide service did not fully meet your expectations and that you felt it deserved a 4-star rating. We completely agree with your observation that visiting not only the Borghese Gallery, but any museum or archaeological site with an expert guide, can be a truly unforgettable experience. However, the option you selected was our entrance ticket service with audio guide app, rather than one of our private guided tours led by a licensed expert guide. As mentioned in the email we sent the day before your visit, we specifically advised: "As a courtesy from Kai Travel, the audio guide can also be used throughout the city of Rome, not only inside the gallery. For art enthusiasts, an official audio guide is also available at the museum entrance, as our app does not cover every single artwork." For this reason, we are very sorry that this information was overlooked, as we clearly explained that the app provides an overview of the gallery and that visitors seeking more in-depth commentary on every artwork could also choose the museum's official audio guide or a guided tour. Thank you again for your feedback. We are pleased that you enjoyed the extraordinary beauty of the Borghese Gallery and hope to welcome you back to Rome for one of our guided experiences in the future. Kind regards, Ruth by Kai Travel

Dennis is the MOST AMAZING Tour Guide.
My husband and I booked Dennis for three days of private tours in Rome this September. We had the most spectacular experience. A little history about us, 12 years ago we traveled to Italy with our two boys and booked several tours with different tour guides. The tour we did with Dennis stood out so much that 12 years later we had to track him down to tour again. It was truly a fabulous experience. Dennis makes the tours interesting , fun and exciting. We couldn’t be happier and we highly recommend you booking with Dennis and Kai travel. Even our boys remember him fondly as he made it so interesting and fun. Thank you Dennis for another amazing experience.
Response from the operator: Dear Robert and Katerina, Thank you so much for your amazing review! We are thrilled that after all these years you came back to tour with Denis, and that he made your experience just as special as the first time. It makes us so happy to know your whole family remembers him with such joy. We truly appreciate your trust and your kind recommendation, and we hope to see you again soon in Rome! With gratitude, Ruth & the Kai Travel Team

Great Tour guide!
I forgot the tour Guide name. He was very knowledgeable and kind. The art work was good but it was too long for same all things, coming from NYC. You need strong legs for this. There is so much things to see in Rome. If I am coming back to Rome, I would not come here again.

Why this scores 72
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
A Private Journey Through the Borghese Gallery & Gardens: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Rome.
How much does A Private Journey Through the Borghese Gallery & Gardens cost?
+
Prices start at $40 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Rome usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does A Private Journey Through the Borghese Gallery & Gardens take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Rome is not rushed.
Is A Private Journey Through the Borghese Gallery & Gardens worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 72 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 45 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Rome, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule A Private Journey Through the Borghese Gallery & Gardens?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is A Private Journey Through the Borghese Gallery & Gardens suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book A Private Journey Through the Borghese Gallery & Gardens?
+
Around 16 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Rome can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Rome and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does A Private Journey Through the Borghese Gallery & Gardens start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Rome within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Rome?
+
Rome runs on skip-the-line access. The Colosseum underground, the Vatican before opening, and the catacombs south of the walls all require a licensed operator, and the price gap between the good ones and the rest is smaller than you would expect. We rank by guide credentials, group size and how reliably the promised access actually materialises. On Outty we rank every Rome experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Rome Pasta and Tiramisu Class: Ravioli, Fettuccine & Fine Wine 5*, Pasta Making & Wine Tasting with Dinner in Frascati from Rome, Rome: Pizza & Tiramisu or Gelato Class with Flowing Fine Wine 5*. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Rome?
+
April, May, September and October. August is hot and half the city is shut. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Rome?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
