The Warm People and Traditions of Romania

George is an exceptional guide who is knowledgeable and passionate about his country. Our small group enjoyed home cooked me@ls in locals’homes in the rural area Maramureş. We had cooking classes taught by a local woman, visited the village photographer who chronicles life in the tiny village of Breb, went on a horse drawn cart ride through the village. We stayed in restored painted cottages that were rescued by a British woman who bought the property and now rents out the charming cottages. We toured beautifully painted wooden churches, 800+ years old monasteries with gorgeous frescoes, the unique Merry Cemetery and Sigishoara, Vlad III Dracul’s birthplace, 1431-1435. Braşov is an interesting Saxon town with the Black Cathedral and ended our tour I. Bucharest. I learned so much from George and this enhanced my tour!

An incredible guide who made Romania unforgettable!

Our travel experience in Romania was very memorable thanks to our guide George. He is knowledgeable, passionate and most importantly, very warm which made every moment of our journey meaningful and enjoyable. He certainly brought the country to life with his storytelling (especially regarding Dracula), historical insights and his love for his homeland. One moment that really stood out was when he offered to take a few of us for Sunday Mass in a Catholic Church even though it was not part of the itinerary knowing how important it was for us and especially when Romania is predominantly Eastern Orthodox. This act of kindness and respect for our faith left a lasting impression and demonstrated his remarkable dedication to his guests. Many guides we encountered along the way also remarked how George was the best guide in the country which confirmed what we already come to feel. If you are planning to visit Romania, I cannot recommend George highly enough. He doesn't just show you the country, he helps you connect with its spirit, its people, and its stories. Thanks to George, Romania will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

Response from the operator: Great time, Aaron ! I am so glad you enjoyed Romania so much and I am sure we'll be touring Romania again ! Thank you for your review !

My daughter and I were looking for a memorable trip to follow our roots. It was something we always had in our bucket list. George, our incredible tour guide made it possible. He went above and beyond to customize this experience for us. He was very knowledgeable and helpful with everything we needed and wanted to be included in our trip. Not only he was knowledgeable and passionate about every city, village and town history but he always answered all our questions with patience adding interesting anecdotes which in turn brought memories to our lives. The tour was very well organized in a timely manner. Every day we had a new experience traveling throughout Romania. We had excellent weather and the change of colors were astonishing. We were so lucky to have found George as our tour guide! He was the most kind, accommodating and fantastic guide we could have ever wish for. He constantly offered superior attention to our needs. It was a truly pleasurable and memorable experience!

A Journey Back in Time: Countryside from Transylvania and Maramures - 15 Days: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Bucharest.

How much does A Journey Back in Time: Countryside from Transylvania and Maramures - 15 Days cost?

    +

Prices start at $1200 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Bucharest usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does A Journey Back in Time: Countryside from Transylvania and Maramures - 15 Days take?

    +

Plan for about 336 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Bucharest is not rushed.

Is A Journey Back in Time: Countryside from Transylvania and Maramures - 15 Days worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 63 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 11 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable food & drink in Bucharest, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule A Journey Back in Time: Countryside from Transylvania and Maramures - 15 Days?

    +

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is A Journey Back in Time: Countryside from Transylvania and Maramures - 15 Days suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 336-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book A Journey Back in Time: Countryside from Transylvania and Maramures - 15 Days?

    +

Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Bucharest can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Bucharest and add a light layer if any part of the 336-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does A Journey Back in Time: Countryside from Transylvania and Maramures - 15 Days start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Bucharest within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Bucharest?

    +

On Outty we rank every Bucharest experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Real tour of Communism, Bucharest Highlights Walking Tour, Top Gear Road, Small-group max 7 pax with Pick-up, Transfăgărăşan. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Bucharest?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Bucharest?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
