About this experience

Machame Route: Machame route is our most popular and successful route leading to the summit of Kilimanjaro. Hikers sleep in tents which are carried up the mountain by porters. The Machame route is a very scenic and beautiful route, which can be completed in 6 days, though we recommend hiking the route in 7 days, allowing for more time to acclimatize. The key to the success of the Machame route is its topography, allowing hikers to climb high and sleep low, helping towards better acclimatization.

Golden Team..! 💪

This trip with Golden Summit Adventures was amazing! We heard about this organization and it over met our expectations! From the first briefing until return to our hotel at the end of the trek it was clear that we were in experienced, capable hands in Dulla and Jonhson our guides, chef, mountain soldiers (porters), and the quality of the service they provided. They gave nothing but positive energy, expert advice and encouragement throughout the entire expedition. We had total confidence in them throughout and they left us in no doubt that we were capable of reaching the summit. The team of support was excellent and we were in awe of the organization and level of commitment of each member. It was clear that our comfort and safety were top priorities for each team member. The food was plenty, varied and delicious. It was just perfect, nothing to add. I can't say enough good things about Golden Summit Adventures, and would recommend them enthusiastically and wholeheartedly to any of my friends or family who are looking for a Kilimanjaro Climb

Excellent, experienced crew

Company was well organized, down to the smallest details (e.g. having porters look after your belongings while you summit, and keeping meals interesting and filling), with experienced guides whose goal is to get you to the summit safely and teach you about the environment and culture along the way.

Best and most reliable Company in Tanzania

Very warm hearted and easy communication all the time. We had an amazing trek experience exploring the beautiful Mount Kilimanjaro with a professional guide who made our trek extraordinary…..they determined to deliver a unique, personalized and rewarding adventure by taking us up to the top of Africa. Golden Summit Adventures took very good care of myself and my cousin from the airport pickup to the top of Kilimanjaro and back. We did the 7-day Machame climb. The food was great and plentiful we could never finish it. Expect lots of porridge, french toast and omelets for breakfast, local stews, spaghetti bolognese, and chicken, fries and salads. Our chef Mapenzi would always check in every night to see how we were feeling and alter the menu slightly to suit our stomachs. If you have any dietary requirements be specific about them from the start. Don't be surprised by the number of porters... for 2 pax you'll typically get; 2 guides, a waiter, a chef and around 8 porters. The porters and cooks are all very nice and work extremely hard to make sure the client's experience is optimal. The views of Kilimanjaro and the experience overall is unlike anything I've ever done. Everything was awesome! The guides, the porters, the organ, equipment, ting, help, food, fun, weather........I highly recommend Golden Summit adventures if you want the best experience summiting Kilimanjaro!

7 Days Machame Route: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Moshi.

How much does 7 Days Machame Route cost?

+

Prices start at $1000 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Moshi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does 7 Days Machame Route take?

+

Plan for about 168 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Moshi is not rushed.

Is 7 Days Machame Route worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 70 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 4 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Moshi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule 7 Days Machame Route?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is 7 Days Machame Route suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 7. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 168-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book 7 Days Machame Route?

+

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Moshi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Moshi and add a light layer if any part of the 168-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does 7 Days Machame Route start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Moshi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Moshi?

+

On Outty we rank every Moshi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Kilimanjaro climb, Lemosho Route (8-day), Kilimanjaro Lemosho Route, Materuni Waterfall, Coffee Tour and Picnic Hot Lunch. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Moshi?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Moshi?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
