The Machame route approaches the summit from the southwest and descends using the Mweka route, rewarding climbers with views of the expansive Shira Plateau, an optional scramble up Lava Tower, a climb up the Great Barranco wall, and a traverse underneath Kilimanjaro’s southern ice field. In certain sections this route is steeper than the Marangu and Rongai routes and physically more demanding but is easier overall. Great for acclimatization with lots of walk high, sleep low opportunities. Challenging trek with stunning scenery through 5 diverse climatic zones.

You will not be disappointed!
I am more than satisfied with Kwesa Tours and their services during my trip to Kilimanjaro! I wholeheartedly recommend them. You will not be disappointed! From our very first meeting, everyone was so kind and friendly, making me feel as though we had known each other for years. They picked me up from the airport without any problems and took me to their cosy hotel in Moshi (Kilibase Hotel), where I was able to get plenty of rest both before and after the climb. I originally chose the Marangu Route, but after discussing my preferences with them, they happily changed it to the Machame Route at no extra cost. This route suited my expectations much better, and I am truly grateful to them for being so accommodating. The entire trek went smoothly, and I was amazed by the breathtaking scenery, which changed constantly along the way — from lush rainforest to a rocky landscape with almost no vegetation. We often joked and laughed together, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. The food prepared by our cook was absolutely delicious! They even prepared separate gluten-free meals for me, which I greatly appreciated. The porters did an incredible job carrying our heavy backpacks, tents, food, and all the other equipment. Somehow, they always managed to get ahead of us, set up the tents, and prepare our meals before we arrived at camp. It was truly amazing to watch them move so effortlessly with heavy loads on their heads and see how quickly they progressed to make sure everything was ready for us on time. And, of course, a huge thank you to my personal guide, Bryson, who helped me through the most challenging steps of the climb and supported me all the way to the summit before sunrise. It was an absolutely unforgettable experience to witness that beautiful sunrise above the clouds at such an altitude. On our way down, we laughed so much and had wonderful conversations, just like old friends. Once again, a heartfelt thank you to Kwesa Tours for helping me fulfil a dream that began 16 years ago, when I first saw Kilimanjaro.

Awesome Kilimanjaro Anniversary
Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro via the Machame route with Kilimanjaro Wonders Expedition Safari was an unforgettable anniversary adventure. The trek was tough, but the crew was exceptionally well-prepared. Every day we were treated to three hot meals, thanks to Chef Mushi’s amazing cooking. We also appreciated the comfort of a portable toilet and regular health checks, ensuring we were always in good shape. The pace was comfortable, and with more days dedicated to acclimatization, the climb was challenging but achievable. The Lemosho route offered stunning views of rainforests, meadows, and Kibo Peak. KWESA's attention to detail and great value made this journey a safe, rewarding, and unforgettable experience.
