Very strenuous in the 5-day combination but worth it!

We have booked an absolutely private guided tour from Yogyakarta. Our guide Ekko drove us safely over a distance of 15h to all planned and extra desired destinations. The cars were super comfortable, clean and spacious with enough legroom and space for all our many suitcases 🧳. Hotels that were included were all a little different. Some very comfortable, others more practical. But everything worked and the journeys were therefore kept as short as possible. All hotels had a beautiful garden and always had a pool. The trips often started very early in the day and you have to be prepared for it! The 3 trekking trips are very strenuous and demanding, especially on the Ijen. I wasn't really prepared for it, admittedly, but: I pulled it off and the view was worth it! At Bromo, horses 🐴renting makes sense and not really expensive. They are also healthy and fit. The rest of the way up is still super strenuous. They are volcanic areas and not comparable to native mountains! Everything is very steep and no circular hiking trails like home! The 600-step waterfall tour is also exhausting. Fear of heights should not be brought! The tour is WITHOUT real breaks on consecutive days. In the mountains it gets a bit cooler and you need certain clothes, for which I was also zero prepared, so I would recommend to all those interested: Prambanan/Borobodur: Start 7:45 a.m. 🕗 Headgear against the sun, sun protection for the skin, shoulder and knee covers for women, shoe change on site (incl.) mandatory! Waterfall: Start 6:45 a.m. Vibram barefoot shoes net, since one can be by min. 20 cm water runs and everything is slippery!!! NO SOCKS, NO SNEAKERS!!! super-thin rain cape with hood!, short trousers and bib top made of breathable materials to prevent sweating, Mt. Bromo: Start: 3 am 🕒 in the morning! long breathable pants there cool! 🥶 light wind-repellent cardigan / training jacket, light scarf if necessary, barefoot shoes canvas due to sandy environment, Cash to buy wish bouquets Ijen: Start 23:45 on the same day as Bromo Tour!!! Gas mask incl. mandatory!!! due to H2SO4! Flashlight 🔦 incl. clothes see like Bromo. On all tours there is enough bottled water, toi stops or what to shop if necessary (candy, cigarettes, tissues). Breakfast and toilets money was all incl. dinner NOT incl. At Bromo, the breakfast was even super sumptuous as in the first hotel (temple, waterfall). For Bali Belly reasons we only had dinner or lunch in American chains. What else you need: possibly Immodium acute or similar, plant-based, also available locally in any mini market! The tours are all in English and all guides speak it fluently and are competent! If you need anything else in between, just address: all wishes will be fulfilled. Were eg still for EUR 4.00 at the men's hairdresser. 💈 The special guides at the tour points are also perfectly trained and help, are super patient. It took me ages to get up at the waterfall and Ijen. Buy some prepackaged machinery in the supermarket, the big tours start BEFORE breakfast! Coke and a pre-packaged piece of cake are helpful, only water was not enough for me! Again, You should be very fit for these tours. It is not for older people, toddlers/babies or severely impaired people! Finally, I am super glad to have seen the most important (?) of Java. It was worth it! Full interest: from us it was only possible to fly to Jakarta and there we took the 7h KAI train the next day 🚆 (super comfortable!) for about EUR 50 pP, bookable online for months from home, super safe, handling as safe as at the airport. Online ticket will be exchanged for local ticket on site. Since we had to go to the hotel in Bali after the tour with ferry ⛴️ and driver to enjoy our remaining booked relaxation holiday, Journeast helped organize this and was then bookable as a complete package with an extra charge! In Java in general, it is very safe to travel, even for women. All people are super friendly and make everything you want possible! We have always felt very welcome and safe. Especially the children surround you in groups (at the temples) and want to take photos for Facebook with you, very dear! 🤗

Response from the operator: Betreff: Herzlichen Dank für Ihr wunderbares Feedback zu Ihrer Java-Reise!

Amazing 5-Day Tour with Journeast Indonesia Tour ✨

Amazing 5-Day Tour with Journeast Indonesia Tour ✨ We were 4 women traveling alone, trusting everything would go well with Journeast Indonesia Tour—and it turned out to be spectacular! We did the 5-day tour, and every day was a new adventure: Day 1: We met our guide Juan—punctual, kind, and respectful. A great start that made us feel safe and welcomed. Days 2 & 3: We visited Tumpaksewu waterfalls and experienced the magical sunrise at Mount Bromo. Absolutely unforgettable moments in breathtaking scenery. Days 4 & 5: Time to hike Mount Ijen! Be ready for a long walk and chilly nights, but entering the volcano crater and seeing the blue fire was 100% worth it. A once-in-a-lifetime experience! During these last days, our driver Jarot took care of us—so polite, helpful, and incredibly patient. The whole trip was very well organized: great hotels, everything on time, and we always felt safe and cared for. Yes, it was a tiring trip, but every minute and every dollar was worth it. We're so happy we chose Journeast Indonesia Tour! Highly recommended 💯

Amazing tour and amazing guide (Hendra!)

It was a great experience and one I will cherish for life. Myself and one friend were taken by hendra who was an excellent guide. His driving skills were very impressive, he is informative and an amazing person to be able to have on hand throughout the trip. The trip itself was very fun with bromo being the highlight due to the amazing sunrise we had. It must be said that we you may get unlucky with the views depending on the weather. Ijen was more difficult than we thought but it was still great to see the blue flames. I would highly recommend as the tour and of course hendra made our travels across Java a lot easier and we had a much better time because of it.

Response from the operator: That is wonderful feedback! We are absolutely delighted to hear that you had the best day ever and found the temples to be beyond words. We are so proud of Hendra! It's great to know that he was generous with his knowledge, looked after you so well, and went above and beyond the tour promise. Thank you for the high recommendation and for noting that the tour is well-priced for the experience!

5 Days Borobudur Prambanan Tumpaksewu Bromo Ijen to Bali Private: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Yogyakarta.

How much does 5 Days Borobudur Prambanan Tumpaksewu Bromo Ijen to Bali Private cost?

    +

Prices start at $290 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Yogyakarta usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does 5 Days Borobudur Prambanan Tumpaksewu Bromo Ijen to Bali Private take?

    +

Plan for about 120 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Yogyakarta is not rushed.

Is 5 Days Borobudur Prambanan Tumpaksewu Bromo Ijen to Bali Private worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 73 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 11 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Yogyakarta, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule 5 Days Borobudur Prambanan Tumpaksewu Bromo Ijen to Bali Private?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is 5 Days Borobudur Prambanan Tumpaksewu Bromo Ijen to Bali Private suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 120-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book 5 Days Borobudur Prambanan Tumpaksewu Bromo Ijen to Bali Private?

    +

Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Yogyakarta can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Yogyakarta and add a light layer if any part of the 120-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does 5 Days Borobudur Prambanan Tumpaksewu Bromo Ijen to Bali Private start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Yogyakarta within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Yogyakarta?

    +

On Outty we rank every Yogyakarta experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Yogyakarta Private Car Hire with Driver, From Surabaya / Malang : Mt Bromo Sunrise - Ijen Blue Fire 2D1N, Borobudur Full Climb Up And Prambanan ALL INCLUSIVE PRIVATE Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Yogyakarta?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Yogyakarta?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
