unreliable
I can not rate the experience for this charter being we didn't go out with them as planned, and I wish I could have so that I could give a proper rating. they called cancelled the trip for us 3 hours before departure leaving us having to find a last minute charter (which we didn't might I add) giving us a inexcusable reason why they could not go out. I would stay clear of this charter when looking for a day out on the water as they are not reliable.
Response from the operator: We are sorry that you were disappointed and understand how frustrating it is to have plans change only a few hours before a scheduled trip. However, we do want to clarify that we do not cancel fishing charters without a legitimate reason. There are circumstances in the charter business—such as an unexpected mechanical issue, weather or sea conditions, or another safety-related situation—that can develop with very little notice. When something occurs that prevents us from safely or responsibly running a trip, we would rather make the difficult decision to cancel than take guests offshore when we believe we should not. We certainly understand that receiving that call three hours before departure was inconvenient, particularly while you were visiting Key West and had limited time to make other arrangements. We're glad you were ultimately able to find another charter and still enjoy a day on the water. We are disappointed to be described as unreliable based on a trip that never actually took place. Cowboy Cowgirl Sportfishing has been taking guests fishing in Key West since 1965, and we would not have remained in business for more than 60 years by routinely canceling trips without good reason. We wish you could have fished with us as originally planned and had the opportunity to judge us based on the actual fishing experience. We appreciate your feedback and wish you the best on your future trips to Key West.

Amazing time! Awesome boat crew!
Captain Hand and first mate Caleb were awesome! Caleb answered any questions we had and helped to set the lures and coach us through reeling in our catches! This was a first for my family and we truly enjoyed ourselves! Good size boat with A/C and fridge and ice chest to keep snacks cold. My group caught barracudas, bonito and Amber jack and the boat that went before us caught barracudas and mahi mahi there were also several huge tarpon hanging around the docks where they clean the fish! We had a great time!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for the fantastic 5-star review! We're thrilled that your family's first deep sea fishing experience in Key West was such a memorable one. Captain Hans and First Mate Caleb will really appreciate the shoutout. Caleb does a great job explaining what's happening, answering questions, setting the spread, and coaching guests when it's their turn to reel in a fish. That's especially important when we have families or first-time anglers aboard. It sounds like you had a great variety of action with barracuda, bonito, and amberjack, and we're glad you enjoyed the comfort of the boat and the A/C too. Seeing those huge tarpon hanging around the fish-cleaning docks is always a fun way to finish the experience! We truly appreciate you choosing Cowboy Cowgirl Sportfishing Charters. Next time you're in Key West, we'd love to take your family out again—maybe for a longer Private Offshore Fishing Charter or one of our Shark Fishing Adventures. And don't forget—go to BiteBackBrand and under Local Legends, go to Cowboy to get your t-shirts and other gear. Thank you again for fishing with us, and we hope to see the whole family back in Key West!

Excellent time on the...
Excellent time on the water. Caleb and Sam were quick when the Mahi were biting. AC on board was nice. Big recommend.
Response from the operator: Thank you for the 5-star review! We're so glad you had an excellent time on your 4-hour shared deep sea fishing trip in Key West. When the mahi start biting, things can happen fast, and we're happy to hear Caleb and Captain Sam were ready to make the most of the action. We'll be sure to pass along your compliments to both of them. We're also glad you enjoyed having the A/C onboard—after some exciting mahi fishing under the Key West sun, that cool cabin can feel pretty good! We really appreciate the recommendation and hope you'll fish with Cowboy Cowgirl Sportfishing again. Next time, consider one of our longer Shared Fishing Charters, a Private Offshore Fishing Charter, or one of our Shark Fishing Adventures. And don't forget—go to BiteBackBrand and under Local Legends, go to Cowboy to get your t-shirts and other gear. Thanks again, and we hope to see you back on the water soon!

Fuel Surcharge Discrepancy
The fuel surcharge of $30 posted online is per person not per group . Misleading info online . Needs to add per person online .
Response from the operator: Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We understand how the wording could have caused confusion, and we appreciate the opportunity to clarify it. The $30 fuel surcharge on our 4-hour Shared Deep Sea Fishing Charter is per person, not per group. Shared charters are booked and priced by the individual passenger, which is why the fuel surcharge is also assessed per person. That said, if the booking platform displayed "$30 fuel surcharge" without clearly stating "per person," we agree that it should be more clearly worded. We certainly don't want anyone to feel surprised by a charge when they arrive for their trip, and we will review how the information is displayed. Marine fuel is one of the largest expenses involved in operating an offshore fishing charter, and the surcharge helps us continue running these trips while fuel costs remain high. We appreciate your feedback and, most importantly, appreciate you fishing with Cowboy Cowgirl Sportfishing Charters. We hope the clarification helps future guests better understand the pricing before booking.

Buyer beware of cowboy cowgirl fishing charters
Book with Cowboy Cowgirl Sport Fishing Charters at your own risk. My husband and brother-in-law have both been offshore fishing for more than 20 years, and they both agreed this was, by far, the worst charter they’ve ever been on. We understand that fishing is never guaranteed. Sometimes the fish simply aren’t biting. That wasn’t the issue. The problem was the crew’s complete lack of effort and engagement. During the entire four-hour trip, neither my husband nor my brother-in-law ever touched a rod, baited a hook, or had an opportunity to fish. Out of the entire boat, only one customer even got to catch a fish—a single barracuda. Meanwhile, nearly every other charter in the marina was coming back with photos of multiple catches and happy customers. Even if the fishing was slow that day, there’s no excuse for clients paying hundreds of dollars only to spend four hours watching instead of fishing. The most disappointing part is that after reading other reviews, I realized this doesn’t appear to be an isolated incident. Multiple reviewers describe the same lack of effort and poor customer experience. I wish I had read those reviews before booking because I would have chosen one of the many other charters in Key West with crews that work hard to make sure everyone has a chance to fish. And based on the owner’s responses to other negative reviews, I fully expect they’ll blame the weather, the fish, or even the customers instead of accepting responsibility. Unfortunately, after our experience, that wouldn’t surprise me at all.
Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re genuinely sorry your trip did not meet your expectations. We would like to clarify a few points for anyone reading your review. The day of your trip was one of the slowest fishing days we’ve experienced in quite some time. Due to heavy seaweed conditions and the summer fishing pattern, many boats across Key West struggled that day. While a handful of boats had success, those were generally either longer offshore fishing charters with more time to reach distant fishing grounds or simply the few that happened to find the right bite that day. Our 4-hour shared fishing charters are designed to maximize fishing time within a limited window. During the summer months, we explain before departure that fish often move farther offshore, making a half-day trip more challenging than a 6- or 8-hour charter. Unfortunately, fishing conditions are never guaranteed, regardless of the experience of the captain or crew. We respectfully disagree with the statement that our crew lacked effort. Our captains and mates take great pride in working hard for every guest, and the overwhelming majority of our reviews reflect that commitment. On difficult fishing days, the results may not always match the effort, but our dedication to our guests never changes. We appreciate your feedback and sincerely regret that this particular day did not provide the experience you were hoping for.

Why this scores 52
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
4 Hour Shared Deep Sea Fishing in Key West: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Key West.
How much does 4 Hour Shared Deep Sea Fishing in Key West cost?
+
Prices start at $200 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Key West usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does 4 Hour Shared Deep Sea Fishing in Key West take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Key West is not rushed.
Is 4 Hour Shared Deep Sea Fishing in Key West worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 52 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.1/5 across 32 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Key West, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule 4 Hour Shared Deep Sea Fishing in Key West?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is 4 Hour Shared Deep Sea Fishing in Key West suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book 4 Hour Shared Deep Sea Fishing in Key West?
+
Around 11 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Key West can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Key West and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does 4 Hour Shared Deep Sea Fishing in Key West start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Key West within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Key West?
+
Key West is a boat town. The only living coral barrier reef in the continental US sits seven miles offshore, and reef trips, sunset catamarans and backcountry kayak runs are the core bookings, alongside Hemingway house and Duval history walks. Our ranking weighs boat capacity and reef site rotation, which separates the good operators from the party cruises. On Outty we rank every Key West experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Shark and Wildlife Viewing Adventure in Key West, Southernmost Food & Cultural Walking Tour by Key West Food Tours, Half-Day Trip from Key West with Kayaking, Snorkeling & Sunset. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Key West?
+
December to April, dry season and calm reef water. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Key West?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
