A beautiful day in Shanghai!

Don't look a professional camera expert tour guide, but this worth more! Alana and Mary arranged us a tailor made tour day with a private driver to see and learn about this amazing city. Alana helped me choosing the best places for photography and Mary was on of the best tour guide I ever had! So full of knowledge and patience, she know how to balance the history and the stories, while giving a space for taking photos in every place. No matter if you are a photographer or not, this tour is a MUST!

Garden, temples and The Bund

It was a very insightful and inspiring tour. May is very knowledgeable, patient and cheerful. I enjoyed every bit of it while learning a lot. I love reading Chinese culture and it was brought to life by this tour! Thanks to your company and most specially to my able tour guide, May, and our very reliable driver.

Great Tour for anyone - photographer or not!

Our tour guide, Lang, had good English and was very knowledgeable and interesting to talk to. We were emailed before the tour with suggestions of places we could go so she knew what our interests were. Our driver met us promptly after each place we visited. Yu Gardens were beautiful. We walked streets in Old Shanghai, visited several temples and other interesting parks and buildings. It was a great way to get around and see different areas of Shanghai. I do like to take photos but it wouldn’t matter if you didn’t. The guide is not a photography expert.

Highlight of Our Trip!

I did the private 4-hour photography tour with Charlie. He was incredible! He picked me up at the hotel, then we set out on our tour in a clean, nice van with a super nice driver. We visited Yuyuan market & garden, the former French Concession, the downtown skyscrapers including the Oriental Pearl, Xintiandi, as well as through some of the Old Shanghai alleyways. Charlie isn't a photographer, but he knew all the great locations for the best photos. My favorite photos were from the Yuyuan garden & the French Concession. If you're considering this tour, definitely do it. The tour was at the perfect pace (not too slow, not too fast), and I know that I saw much, much more than I would've been able to see on my own.

The tour started promptly and we went...

The tour started promptly and we went to all the destinations that we had arranged the day before. It was well paced and I was able to take in all the sights and experiences of each location. A particular highlight was at Fuxing Park and interacting with the locals. It was such a great feeling. It was fortunate for us that there was an unveiling for a new relic at the Jade Buddha Temple and we were able to view it albeit from a distance. We were very privileged. The Jade Buddha itself was also incredibly beautiful and I really enjoyed the view of the temple. After that we went to Yuyuan and to be walking around there after the bustle of going through the bazaar was a relief. It was a classical view of a chinese garden that I really enjoyed. Alana and her driver also took me for a wonderfully amazing lunch which was an experience in itself! And lastly visiting the Bund again was great. The photos that Alana took for me are memories and no selfie could capture those moments. I wish to thank her and the driver (I’m so sorry I forgot to ask his name) for their kind hospitality and made it a wonderful and comfortable tour or Shanghai. I would not hesitate to recommend this for my other friends who may be visiting Shanghai.

4-Hour Private Photography Tour of Shanghai: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Shanghai.

How much does 4-Hour Private Photography Tour of Shanghai cost?

+

Prices start at $25 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Shanghai usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does 4-Hour Private Photography Tour of Shanghai take?

+

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Shanghai is not rushed.

Is 4-Hour Private Photography Tour of Shanghai worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 74 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 15 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Shanghai, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule 4-Hour Private Photography Tour of Shanghai?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is 4-Hour Private Photography Tour of Shanghai suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book 4-Hour Private Photography Tour of Shanghai?

+

Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Shanghai can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Shanghai and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does 4-Hour Private Photography Tour of Shanghai start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Shanghai within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Shanghai?

+

On Outty we rank every Shanghai experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Shanghai City Guided Walking Tour | China's 1st and Best Rated, Private Shanghai Full Day City Tour with Old and New Highlights, Full-Day Private Guided Tour of Shanghai. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Shanghai?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Shanghai?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
