A truly focused whisky experience!
We got exactly what I was looking for from this tour. Saw the countryside of western Scotland and Isle of Islay. We actually visited 11 distilleries in 3 days. Had 3 excellent tours at Tomatin, Oban and Kilchoman. The other 8 were tastings of various lengths. Each of the 4 drivers we had were excellent, professional and extremely personable. All had a long term connection to the area and provided lots of info and history. Our driver on Islay, Douglas, was born and raised on the island which provided a very personal experience. We kept things moving enough that we were able to add in 2 extra distilleries for tastings. An authentic experience with older, historic type hotels which were in various stages of revival, which the tour operator had explained to us upfront. We found it very interesting and satisfying. They also accommodated our desire to spend a night at the Ardbeg House luxury hotel which we arranged and paid for separately, refunded us the appropriate amount for their pre-arranged hotel, delivered and picked us up from that location. The focus of this tour is whiskey and we got what we paid for. Most Scotland tours do not offer Islay as an option and after spending the next couple of weeks on a more typical Scotland tour I can understand why. Islay does not fit logistically but if you are a true Islay Single Malt enthusiast I suggest you add this specialized tour either before or after a typical tour. Or, you can do it stand alone. Main thing is to do an Islay visit and Whisky Wheels is a great partner.

The local drivers and distillery teams were the highlight
First, I didn’t dye my due diligence and read these reviews prior to booking. We booked in December 2025 for a tour in September and the communication prior to booking was great. When we were a month out, I was hoping to get more details on itinerary of distilleries and lodging. After a few attempts I was told it would be received the week prior and we got it Friday for a Sunday start. The drivers on each leg were fantastic and knowledgeable about the areas. They also helped adjust things when the provided itinerary wouldn’t work. One stop didn’t offer tastings (paid or free unless you had a tour), one was closed the day we were supposed to visit and one didn’t start tastings early enough for the planned time. Also, one of our paid whisky tours was actually primarily a brewery. Unfortunately we neither one like beer, so those samples were wasted (but the tour guide was great if you do like beer). Overall, we enjoyed our time on Islay thanks to our drivers and the distillery teams, but I’m giving only 3 stars due to the general disorganization.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your review, and we are so glad to hear that you enjoyed your time on Islay and that our drivers and distillery partners took such fantastic care of you! We appreciate you sharing your experience, but we do want to clarify a few details regarding the itinerary. The three locations mentioned were not part of your paid tour inclusions. One of these venues unfortunately closed at short notice despite previously confirming over the phone that they would be open, and the adjustments for the other two Islay stops were communicated the day before. Additionally, the brewery visit was a personal recommendation intended as an extra local experience; we completely understand it didn't align with your drink preferences. We always do our best to adapt quickly alongside our distillery partners when independent venues change their availability, and we appreciate your feedback on our itinerary delivery timeline as we continue to refine our service. Thank you again for choosing Whiskywheels Tours!

Hoping to be a Repeat Customer
It's been a couple of weeks since we finished our trip across Scotland and the Islay Island. From the conversations among our small group during the trip and afterwards, all while enjoying newly acquired bottles of whisky, the general consensus is that we would do it all over again tomorrow. WhiskyWheels showed us that they have an incredible ability to line up a wonderful itinerary, find the perfect drivers, and put us in hotels that are comfortable and full of character. Now that we're home, and the flavor of peety whiskys from Islay disappear from our memories, we are making purchases from the other regions of Scotland. The way it's going, there could be another tour request coming to show off the Speyside region. The "challenge" of smoke is at times, exactly what I'm looking for. But when I'm not, the Speyside smoothness makes drinking whisky super comfortable and relaxing. WhiskyWheels has a lot to show off to the world. Of course the whisky, but also the beautiful landscape, incredible history of churches and castles, as well as the amazingly friendly people. I hope WhiskyWheels and their network of drivers succeed in doing just that.

4 days of whisky.
This 4 day trip was spectacular. 1 night in Oban and 2 nights on Islay. The recommended distilleries were all very enjoyable. Highly recommend Whiskywheels.

Simply the best
From beginning to end the service, knowledge, politeness and professionalism was exceptional. I had three divers over the 4 days responsible for different legs of the tour. Euon, the owner of Whiskywheels was day one and four,Sheena day two and three and Colin was there to meet me at the ferry terminal. The itinerary was full and well balanced on Isla. Lots of informative and beautiful Whisky Distilleries. Euon even actioned my conversation by taking me to see some Highland coos! Accommodation on Islay at Dha Urlar B&B was beautiful. The hosts were welcoming and the room was clean and comfortable. Breakfasts were so good. Sheena my wonderfully knowlegeable driver on Islay and herself an Islay taxi driver and resident of Islay seemed to know every Ileach. A great trip. Highly recommend Whiskywheels. Slainte.

4-day Islay Platinum Whisky Tour - Whisky Included! With free pickup!: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Inverness.
How much does 4-day Islay Platinum Whisky Tour - Whisky Included! With free pickup! cost?
+
Prices start at $2,995 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Inverness usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does 4-day Islay Platinum Whisky Tour - Whisky Included! With free pickup! take?
+
Plan for about 96 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Inverness is not rushed.
Is 4-day Islay Platinum Whisky Tour - Whisky Included! With free pickup! worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 58 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4/5 across 16 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Inverness, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule 4-day Islay Platinum Whisky Tour - Whisky Included! With free pickup!?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is 4-day Islay Platinum Whisky Tour - Whisky Included! With free pickup! suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 96-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book 4-day Islay Platinum Whisky Tour - Whisky Included! With free pickup!?
+
Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Inverness can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Inverness and add a light layer if any part of the 96-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does 4-day Islay Platinum Whisky Tour - Whisky Included! With free pickup! start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Inverness within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Inverness?
+
On Outty we rank every Inverness experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Ultimate Isle of Skye Day Tour from Inverness, Isle of Skye and Eilean Donan Castle Day Tour from Inverness, Loch Ness, Outlander & Urquhart Castle from Inverness. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Inverness?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Inverness?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
