About this experience
⚠️ New vehicle from March 2026! Hello dear visitor, my name is Arnaud and will be your native Guide of this magnificent Provence. Among the 5 tours I offer, I take you today to Châteauneuf du Pape and its world-famous wines. I will lead you in 2 different areas, among the most renowned. You will taste at least 6 different wines, including 2 white wines (white wines represent only 8% of Châteauneuf du Pape production and are very difficult to find abroad). You will also tell me your choice for the last stop of 5 minutes: either at the village castle, whose ruins testify to a rich medieval history, or in a vineyard flooded with rolled pebbles, the iconic terroir of Châteauneuf du Pape. If you are interested in the wines of the region, and not just the Châteauneuf du Pape, book my other tour instead: https://www.viator.com/en-FR/tours/Avignon/Wine-Route-One-Day-Tour/d483 - 391931P4

What you'll see and do
Chateauneuf-du-Pape
30 minutes drive from Avignon Tasting in the first estate of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. It is one of the oldest in the appellation, built more than 300 years ago. There you will taste the famous reds of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, but also the whites which represent only 5% of the production. This cellar has chosen to keep the traditional blend of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, namely the 13 grape varieties of the appellation (red and white) in the red wines, and the 6 white grape varieties in the white wines. Duration: approximately 1 hour. Then head to another historic estate in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, one of the largest in the appellation. You will also try the red wines and white wines of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, but with a more modern blend composed of the main grape varieties of the appellation (Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre). Duration: approximately 1 hour. (Non-exhaustive description because it depends on the availability of cellars) 30 minute drive back to Avignon

Why this scores 63
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
3 hours of Tour in the Wines of Châteauneuf-du-Pape: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Avignon.
How much does 3 hours of Tour in the Wines of Châteauneuf-du-Pape cost?
+
Prices start at $79 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Avignon usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does 3 hours of Tour in the Wines of Châteauneuf-du-Pape take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Avignon is not rushed.
Is 3 hours of Tour in the Wines of Châteauneuf-du-Pape worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 63 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 14 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Avignon, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule 3 hours of Tour in the Wines of Châteauneuf-du-Pape?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is 3 hours of Tour in the Wines of Châteauneuf-du-Pape suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 18. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 2-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book 3 hours of Tour in the Wines of Châteauneuf-du-Pape?
+
Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Avignon can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Avignon and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does 3 hours of Tour in the Wines of Châteauneuf-du-Pape start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Avignon within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Avignon?
+
On Outty we rank every Avignon experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Chateauneuf du Pape wine tour, Highlights of Provence in One Day, Provence Highlights Full-Day Tour from Avignon. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Avignon?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Avignon?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
