Not the best option for cruising Halong IMO

Halong Bay Cruise Hunters is simply a clearinghouse for Halong Bay cruise ships. I would not suggest going this route. You have no control over on what ship you will be on nor the itinerary. Basically all you know beforehand is that they will pick you up and take you to a ship. So if you wanna roll the dice and hope for the best, then this is your company. If you want to pick what Works best for you and your Preference, then don’t go this route. If you try to get more info early on your communication isn’t answered. We got a WhatsApp the day before the cruise with a few more details. BTW our cruise was good. Not great but good and Halong Bay is spectacular

Cruise lovely but beware the cruise operator

My husband and I booked a 3D/2N cruise as the highlight of our Vietnam tour. We were taken on board a lovely ship and offered a kayaking activity which no one took up as it was cold and rainy. We were then told the second night and following day was cancelled due to Government instructions due to the Coronavirus. We received no excursions at all, only a tai chi class on the boat and a very poor lesson on rolling spring rolls! We have been trying to negotiate a fair refund, at least half our money paid but have just been refunded 216euros from 466 euros we paid! Don’t book with this company as you will not be treated fairly if anything goes wrong.

Breath taking must visit

We have found our time on the cruise to be faultless. The food, staff and general organisation were all fantastic. It certainly exceeded our expectations and we couldn’t recommend enough. Halong Bay is a must see as you can’t describe the beauty that it has, a magical place to which we would certainly return. Nicola Hague : )

Asked to cancel 5 days out and rebook with them privately for different tour.

We booked a cruise about 5 months in advance of our requested dates, through Halong Bay Cruise Hunters after reading the positive reviews on this site. About 1 week prior to the cruise I received a WhatsApp message from 'James' asking that I cancel the booking through Trip Advisor and re-book through them privately. The reason given was that the cruise we had booked was no longer available due to "Chinese booking the entire tour". We were told that if we re-booked through them privately, they would upgrade us to a 5 star boat and the price would remain the same. We did rebook and all appeared to go smoothly until the day of the cruise. We were sent photos of the "luxury Limosene we would be collected in" - it was a comfortable bus, but certainly not a limousine bus/coach and it looked nothing like the photos. When I queried this with the young tour guide, she passed the buck and said that I had to take the issue up with the tour company who booked the cruise. (It appears that this tour company doesn't actually have boats, it is just a 3rd party re-seller). So after that, we arrived on the cruise ship to find that our balcony room on the 1st floor had been down graded to a ground floor room (yes it had a balcony), but it was right next to the crew/staff quarters and they are a very noisy bunch after hours when you are trying to get to sleep. When I raised this with the Cruise manager (a very nice man), he informed me that we had been "upgraded" on the boat, but because we paid the same price as the 4 star cruise, we got "down graded" in our room. After much 'discussion' and 'buck passing' and more than a few disgruntled texts to 'James from Halong Bay Cruise Hunters', they agreed to upgrade our room the next night. The cruise itself was very enjoyable. We had a fabulous time apart from the room debacle and the staff were very friendly and attempted to be helpful. Halon Bay is a beautiful place and it is hard not to have a great time. We particularly enjoyed the bike/cycling through Bat Ca National Park to the Village. My advise is to be careful about what you book and who you book with. I suspect that most of the tours advertised on this site are through 3rd party sellers and as such this makes it hard to get resolutions if things go a bit wrong (that and the language barrier). Next time, I will find the cruise companies and book directly with them. Definitely go though, Halong Bay should not be missed.

Great time on cruise

If you’re looking for a great cruise, this is one you’ll really enjoy. We just did the 3 day / 2 night cruise which I think was better than the 1 night option The boat was beautiful, modern and clean. The staff were great, and the scenery was fantastic. Upon arrival on the ship you are greeted with singing and a warm welcome. Activities included kayaking, day cruise with a bike ride to a small village, swimming and more kayaking in a secluded beach, and walk through a cave. The meals were good, with a great selection to choose from.....you won’t go hungry. I highly recommend this cruise for anyone thinking of visiting Hanoi and/or Halong bay.
