Know before you go
- Not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries
- Not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health
- Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
- The season where the plants that give Caño Cristales its color only grow from June to November, which is the rain season. We don't recommend traveling to Caño Cristales before June or after November because you probably won't enjoy the scenery
- In Caño Cristales and Caño Cristalitos, it is forbidden to use sunscreen and mosquito repellent but you can use them for the rest of the trip.
- The tours are run on small groups of 8 participants max. You will be assigned to a group that has the same hiking level as you. The program on day 1 and 3 will be adapted according to your level. On day 2 (Caño Cristales), there are several routes in the reserve that vary in length. You will be assigned to a route according to your hiking level.
- Don’t expect luxury. The highlight of the trip is 100% nature! All meals are provided by the restaurant of the hotel and there are no hot showers and no AC (rooms have FAN and electricity, wifi is present but unstable).
- Changes on the tour may occur due to external factors. These changes will be notified to you with anticipation.
- This tour depends on the availability in flights and hotels.
- A yellow fever vaccine certificate may be required by authorities. We strongly recommend getting the shot.

Experience of a Lifetime!
Our adventure to Cano Cristales, the “rainbow river” was nothing short of AWESOME!!! Our bi-lingual guide, Pedro H., was absolutely wonderful, knowledgeable, thoughtful and so helpful. We are an older couple, who had always dreamed of seeing the river. Pedro was so patient and caring with us and it was very much appreciated. We felt safe at all times. The people who live in La Macarena are friendly and welcoming. We loved the boat rides down the Guaviare River to get to the park and all the wildlife you saw along the way. The “dinner show” was so fun and a delightful cultural experience. We HIGHLY recommend this tour!
Response from the operator: Hi Linda, We're thrilled you had an AWESOME time on your 3-day trip to Cano Cristales! Pedro H. made sure you had a fantastic experience, and we're delighted you felt safe and cared for. The beauty of the Guaviare River and the warm hospitality in La Macarena made your trip even more special. We're so glad you enjoyed the "dinner show" and had a delightful cultural experience. Thanks for the HIGH recommendation! We hope to see you on another adventure soon. Warm regards, - Impulse Travel Team

Amazing tour of the best natural wonders
Booked through Tripadvisor with service through Impulse Travel. Laura was great at communicating with me the whole time about flights, hotel pick up and questions i had. Vladamir was my tour guide and was great. He explained the history or the area and answered all questions that were asked. In addition to taking photos for us solo travelers. Overall it was a great experience at the river and with Impulse travel. The only hickup was the initial booking. I picked my dates of the tour from what the TripAdvisor website said was available and based the rest of my trip to Colombia around those dates. Thats when Laura had contacted me and said that there were no flights out on the day i picked and the next one was 3 days later. So i had to make adjustments to my trip in order to be able to go. This seemed more like a TripAdvisor error on their website than on Impulse Travel. But it was still a great experience!
Response from the operator: Hi Natalio, Thanks for choosing Impulse Travel for your 3-Day Trip to Cano Cristales. It was a pleasure assisting you. I apologize for any inconvenience with the initial booking, and I appreciate your flexibility in adjusting your plans. I'm delighted to hear you enjoyed your tour with Vladamir. Your positive feedback is truly appreciated. We look forward to hosting you again in the future! Warm regards, Laura and the Impulse Travel Team

Rainbow River
Great experience going to Rainbow River. If you are planning to go, book early as flights are limited. The moss in the river was mainly red with tinge of pink and brown depending on how strong the sun is. Be meticulous to follow up closely on the flight, travel and transport arrangements as things could easily go wrong
Response from the operator: Response: Thank you for sharing your experience with us! We're thrilled you had a great time at Rainbow River. Booking early is indeed key, and your tip about staying on top of travel arrangements is much appreciated. 🌈✈️😊

Amazing Caño Cristales
Amazing experience! Nelson was a fantastic guide and made sure everyone had the experience they wanted. I was traveling solo, but placed in a group with a slightly older couple for the first two days of the trip. They were very serious about photography and Nelson made sure they were able to stop and get all the shots they wanted while he made sure I was still having a good time by making sure I had time to swim and offering to take photos of me in various spots. On the last day, I had Pedro as my guide since the other couple had a different itinerary. Pedro was also fantastic and made sure I got to my flight and helped me when my charter flight was delayed. All in all this was a fantastic experience with amazing sights you can’t see just anywhere in the world. It was a bit expensive because this area is very remote so very difficult to get to, but everything was included so it was nice to not have to figure out where to get food or water for a few days, plus all transportation was included including hotel pickup and dropoff. I only had time in my schedule to do the 3 day tour, but I highly recommend to others to stay longer if you can. There is so much to see in this area! I was unfortunately not able to spot any pink dolphins on my trip, but nature is unpredictable so I knew that part wasn’t guaranteed. Impulse Travel did a great job responding quickly whenever I had questions and they were also very flexible with me when I had very inflexible travel dates to work with. I would recommend them to anyone!
Response from the operator: We're thrilled to hear about your amazing experience during the 3-Day Trip to Cano Cristales from Bogota. It's wonderful to know that Nelson and Pedro provided you with fantastic guidance, ensuring you had a memorable time. Your kind words truly mean a lot to us. We're delighted that you were able to enjoy the breathtaking sights and unique experiences that this remote area offers. We understand that such expeditions can be a bit more costly due to their remote nature, but we're glad our all-inclusive package made your journey hassle-free and enjoyable. Thank you for recommending Impulse Travel! We're grateful for your trust and hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back in the future. Warm regards

Why this scores 47
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
3-Day Trip to Caño Cristales from Bogota: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Bogotá.
How much does 3-Day Trip to Caño Cristales from Bogota cost?
+
Prices start at $1614 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Bogotá usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does 3-Day Trip to Caño Cristales from Bogota take?
+
Plan for about 72 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Bogotá is not rushed.
Is 3-Day Trip to Caño Cristales from Bogota worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 47 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 15 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable nightlife in Bogotá, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule 3-Day Trip to Caño Cristales from Bogota?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is 3-Day Trip to Caño Cristales from Bogota suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 72-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book 3-Day Trip to Caño Cristales from Bogota?
+
Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Bogotá can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Bogotá and add a light layer if any part of the 72-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does 3-Day Trip to Caño Cristales from Bogota start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Bogotá within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Bogotá?
+
On Outty we rank every Bogotá experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Private City Tour Bogota + Monserrate, Gold, Botero and Candelaria., Free Graffiti Walking Tour Every Day in Bogota, Viejo Bogota Food Tour with 12+ Tastings. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Bogotá?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Bogotá?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
