    A Most Enjoyable Day

Fabulous day had with our guide and driver, Ben. Very knowledgeable and friendly and we both enjoyed our walk and the company of our group. The walk itself is set mostly through trees and does have many steps, both up and down. Finishing with a walk through a 800 metre tunnel. Highly recommended.

Response from the operator: Dear Simon, Thank you for your wonderful review! We’re delighted you enjoyed your day with Ben and appreciated his friendly nature and knowledge throughout the hike. It’s great to hear you enjoyed both the beautiful trail and the unique experience of walking through the 800-metre tunnel. At Madeira Adventure Kingdom, your satisfaction is always our top priority. Thank you for your recommendation, and we hope to welcome you back for another adventure in Madeira soon! 😊🌿

A fab way to explore this part of the island

A great trip but be warned there’s a lot of steps down and up- a reasonable level of fitness required. Waterproof hiking boots would also be a good idea for walking through the tunnel at the end- the water will potentially come up to your ankles. Our guide Marta was fantastic!!

Response from the operator: Dear Rakesh, Thank you for your wonderful review! We’re delighted you enjoyed exploring the beautiful Rabaçal Valley and that Marta’s fantastic guidance made the experience even more memorable. Thank you as well for sharing your helpful tips about the steps and waterproof hiking boots. At Madeira Adventure Kingdom, your satisfaction is always our top priority. We hope to welcome you back for another adventure in Madeira soon! 😊🌿

    Excellent 10k hike...

Excellent 10k hike through the forest and levadas. Beautiful, lush forest, wild flowers and running water and waterfalls - stunning. Lots of steps up and down but well worth the effort. Highly recommend.

Good way to spend a few hours in nature

Decent walk through to the Levada then through a tunnel to the other side. Review online say this is a hard walk but it’s mostly flat with stairs up and down. I would say most age groups and fitness levels can do this hike no problem, if you have issues with stairs I would not recommend.

Response from the operator: Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback! We’re happy to hear you enjoyed the walk through the levadas and the tunnel experience — it’s a wonderful way to spend time immersed in Madeira’s unique nature. We also appreciate your helpful comments regarding the trail difficulty and stairs, which will certainly be useful for future visitors considering the hike. At Madeira Adventure Kingdom, your satisfaction is always our top priority, and we’re glad you had a positive experience overall. We hope to welcome you back for another adventure in Madeira soon! 🌿

A fantastic way to appreciate this unique island.

What a wonderful day. The weather was not great, cloudy, windy, cool with some heavy rain showers, but once up the mountain, it was so beautiful regardless. The walk was easy, apart from a long flight of stairs which Ben, our guide, just encouraged us to take our time over. Waterproof shoes with good grip are a good idea, waterproof jacket and a warm layer would make it more comfortable. Ben's knowledge of the Island and his communication were excellent. The stop at the cafe before and after the walk to use facilities and have refreshments was helpful. Walking along the full, flowing levada was so relaxing. A beautiful way to understsnd and appreciate the uniqueness of this island. Would recommend.

Response from the operator: Dear Kerry, Thank you so much for your wonderful and thoughtful review! We’re delighted to hear that, despite the changing weather, you were still able to fully appreciate the beauty and uniqueness of Madeira through the 25 Fontes walk. It’s great to know that Ben’s guidance, encouragement, and knowledge helped make the experience even more enjoyable and comfortable for you. We also really appreciate your helpful tips for future guests regarding clothing and footwear — they can truly make a difference on mountain walks. At Madeira Adventure Kingdom, your satisfaction is always our top priority, and we’re so happy you found the levada experience relaxing and memorable. We hope to welcome you back for another adventure in Madeira soon! 🌿

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Funchal.

How much does 25 Fountains Levada: Hiking Tour in Madeira Rabaçal Valley (PR6) cost?

    +

Prices start at $57 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Funchal usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does 25 Fountains Levada: Hiking Tour in Madeira Rabaçal Valley (PR6) take?

    +

Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Funchal is not rushed.

Is 25 Fountains Levada: Hiking Tour in Madeira Rabaçal Valley (PR6) worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 78 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 202 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Funchal, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule 25 Fountains Levada: Hiking Tour in Madeira Rabaçal Valley (PR6)?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is 25 Fountains Levada: Hiking Tour in Madeira Rabaçal Valley (PR6) suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book 25 Fountains Levada: Hiking Tour in Madeira Rabaçal Valley (PR6)?

    +

Around 71 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Funchal can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Funchal and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does 25 Fountains Levada: Hiking Tour in Madeira Rabaçal Valley (PR6) start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Funchal within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Funchal?

    +

On Outty we rank every Funchal experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Jeep Tour Amazing West to Natural Pools -Full-Day, Porto Moniz, Seixal, Fanal Forest, Cliff Skywalk in Open Roof 4X4, West Tour-Fanal Forest & Porto Moniz Natural Pools Small Groups. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Funchal?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Funchal?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
