Most Fun Ever
Elvis taught our 12 y/o grandson for a two hour private lesson. He was knowledgeable, engaging and encouraging. Mikey said it was the most fun he ever had. Pay the extra $25 for the GoPro video! So happy to have those permanent memories. Thanks, Elvis!

Loved the vibe and location
First time surfing in Santa Monica and it couldn’t have gone better. Our instructor was from Hawaii.. super chill, encouraging, and made the whole thing feel easy. We booked online on Funsurfla website and the communication was super quick, which I loved. The spot in Santa Monica is perfect..:) easy to find, great waves for beginners, and just a fun vibe all around. Tip: don’t overthink it, just show up ready to get salty and have a laugh!!!!

Fantastic surf times!
We had a brilliant time on our two hour private lesson. Rafael was a fantastic instructor who explained everything clearly and got us in the water super quick, which was great. Three of our four managed to stand upright on our first ever lesson, which we think was a great testament to his teaching. Thanks Rafael and all at Fun Surf LA!
Response from the operator: Thank you for the wonderful review! 🌊 We’re so glad to hear that you had a brilliant time during your private lesson with Rafael. It’s fantastic that three of you managed to stand up on your first try—what an achievement! We truly appreciate your kind words and hope to see you all back for more fun on the waves! 🏄♂️✨

Fantastic instruction!
Jonathan was an incredible teacher, and finally helped me drop in and catch waves the real way! I have been trying to teach myself on a 6 foot short board for the last two years with minimal results and enjoyment. This one session straightened a lot of things out for me. Gotta do it!
Response from the operator: Thank you for the amazing review! 🌊 We’re so happy to hear that Jonathan helped you make such great progress and finally catch waves the "real way"! It’s awesome that the session made such a difference after trying to teach yourself. We’re thrilled you had such a positive experience and hope to see you back for more surf sessions soon! 🏄♂️✨

Why this scores 67
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
2-Hour Private Surfing Lesson in Venice Beach: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Santa Monica.
How much does 2-Hour Private Surfing Lesson in Venice Beach cost?
+
Prices start at $99 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Santa Monica usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does 2-Hour Private Surfing Lesson in Venice Beach take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Santa Monica is not rushed.
Is 2-Hour Private Surfing Lesson in Venice Beach worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 67 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 10 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Santa Monica, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule 2-Hour Private Surfing Lesson in Venice Beach?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is 2-Hour Private Surfing Lesson in Venice Beach suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book 2-Hour Private Surfing Lesson in Venice Beach?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Santa Monica can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Santa Monica and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does 2-Hour Private Surfing Lesson in Venice Beach start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Santa Monica within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Santa Monica?
+
Santa Monica is where most LA coast tours start: beach bike and e-bike rides to Venice, surf lessons, food walks on Third Street and open-top runs up Pacific Coast Highway. On Outty we rank every Santa Monica experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Best of Los Angeles Guided City Tour with 4 Stops and Free Time, Half Day Best of Los Angeles City Tour from Santa Monica, Hollywood, Beverly Hills & Celebrity Homes Tour by Open Air Bus. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Santa Monica?
+
March to May and September to November, dodging the June marine layer. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Santa Monica?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
