Iconic mountain walk

Huayna Picchu is the mountain overlooking Machu Picchu. There are 400 tickets per day issued to do the climb, so you need to book in advance. The climb is pretty brutal; very steep with mainly steps, some of which are fairly high. That said, every time you stop there are fantastic views, the best being from the summit over Machu Picchu. There is a one way system at the summit, and the descent starts with a tight squeeze through a narrow cave in the rock. Take your backpack off before going in unless you are tiny, as otherwise you might get stuck (I nearly did). And take 1l water per person; it’s hot, and you will be exerting yourselves.

Scam - this trip should be delisted

The tour operator cancelled on us 30 min before our meeting time on the trip date. We were scrambled and tried to find alternatives with local travel agency. We booked this trip 8 months prior and confirmed with viator multiple times as we approached the date. We tried to contact local operator via the Viator app many times and they never responded. They finally responded on the day of trip and said everything cancelled. We asked some local travel agency and they recognized this tour company is located in Bolivia. Btw, Viator did not help much when all these issues happened. We are still waiting for our refund. We leave this review so no one would fall to the same scam.

The Ghost of Machu Picchu

The Huayna Picchu mountain is quite Lakota and its rise is steep to the extreme but it provides an unparalleled view of Machu Picchu. The effort is great, but the reward is worth it

How much does 2 Days and 1 Night Private Tour in Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu cost?

How long does 2 Days and 1 Night Private Tour in Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu take?

+

That score blends traveler sentiment (3.7/5 across 3 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cusco, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule 2 Days and 1 Night Private Tour in Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu?

How far in advance should I book 2 Days and 1 Night Private Tour in Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu?

+

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cusco can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cusco and add a light layer if any part of the 48-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does 2 Days and 1 Night Private Tour in Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cusco within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cusco?

+

On Outty we rank every Cusco experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Sacred Valley Full Day Tour, Peruvian Cooking Class Cocktails and Market Tour in Cusco, Cusco: Rainbow Mountain & Red Valley Premium Day Trip with Meals. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cusco?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cusco?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
