About this experience

Travel to the lost temple of Beng Mealea, the titanic of temples, a slumbering giant lost for centuries in the forests of Cambodia. It is the most accessible of Angkor's lost temples. We then head into the bush to the remote Angkor capital of Koh Ker. The history of Cambodia is riven with dynastic spats and political intrigue and one of the most memorable came in the 10th century when Jayavarman IV (928-942) fell out with his family, stormed off to the northwest and established the rival capital of Koh Ker. Next, drive north to the remote temple of Preah Vihear. The road snakes up the mountain, and is very steep in places, eventually emerging at the second enclosure of this 'King of the Mountain' temple. Set on the Dangrek Mountains, Preah Vihear towers hundreds of metres above lowland Cambodia offering breath-taking views. The foundation stones of the temple stretch to the edge of the cliff as it plunges precipitously away to the plains of Preah Vihear province below.

An Unforgettable Journey Through the Heart of the Khmer Empire

My partner and I recently returned from an incredible trip to Siem Reap, and we are still in awe of the history and architectural mastery we witnessed. Exploring the ancient temples as a couple was a deeply moving and impressive experience. The Highlights: Angkor Wat: No amount of pictures can prepare you for the scale of this masterpiece. Walking across the causeway at sunrise and seeing the five iconic towers reflected in the water was a highlight of our lives. The intricate bas-reliefs telling epic stories are simply mind-blowing. Angkor Thom & Bayon: Entering the ancient city through the South Gate felt like stepping back in time. The Bayon temple, with its hundreds of serene, massive stone faces looking down from the towers, was perhaps our favorite spot for its mysterious and powerful atmosphere. Ta Prohm: This was a magical experience. Seeing the massive silk-cotton trees reclaiming the ruins—their roots wrapping around the stone like giant tentacles—creates a stunning "lost world" vibe that is both romantic and hauntingly beautiful. A Note on Entertainment: While the historical sites exceeded every expectation, we did venture out to see The Cambodian Circus (Phare). While many seem to enjoy it, for us, it didn't quite hit the mark and wasn't as impressive as the rest of our journey. If you are short on time, we’d recommend spending those extra hours catching a sunset at one of the lesser-known temples instead. Overall: If you love history, art, and architecture, this trip is a must. The sheer ingenuity of the Khmer Empire is on full display here. It was a perfect couple's getaway that left us with memories—and photos—that we will treasure forever.

2-Day Private Guided Tour to Beng Mealea, Koh Ker and Preah Vihear: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Siem Reap.

How much does 2-Day Private Guided Tour to Beng Mealea, Koh Ker and Preah Vihear cost?

+

Prices start at $418 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Siem Reap usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does 2-Day Private Guided Tour to Beng Mealea, Koh Ker and Preah Vihear take?

+

Plan for about 48 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Siem Reap is not rushed.

Is 2-Day Private Guided Tour to Beng Mealea, Koh Ker and Preah Vihear worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 54 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4/5 across 1 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Siem Reap, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule 2-Day Private Guided Tour to Beng Mealea, Koh Ker and Preah Vihear?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is 2-Day Private Guided Tour to Beng Mealea, Koh Ker and Preah Vihear suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 4. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 48-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book 2-Day Private Guided Tour to Beng Mealea, Koh Ker and Preah Vihear?

+

Around 0 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Siem Reap can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Siem Reap and add a light layer if any part of the 48-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does 2-Day Private Guided Tour to Beng Mealea, Koh Ker and Preah Vihear start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Siem Reap within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Siem Reap?

+

On Outty we rank every Siem Reap experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Angkor Wat Sunrise or Sunset Small-Group and Guide tours, Angkor Wat full Day 'Small Group with sunset & Tour Guide, Angkor Wat Sunrise or Sunset Tour with Guide from Siem Reap. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Siem Reap?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Siem Reap?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
