Dumplings with Cici the highlight of our trip
Our Family trip to China started in Shanghai and we all agreed that learning to cook and learning about China with Cici was one of the highlights of our 2 week trip. The kids and my wife and i loved Cici knowledge, passion and energy. Can't wait to put our new cooking skills to work. Thank you Cici you're the best.

Dumpling Making Shanghai
Our teacher was excellent and patient with our clear lack of culinary ability! We had great fun and the dumplings tasted great as well (even if ours didn't look the best...)
Response from the operator: Dear Ashley, Thank you for your wonderful review! We're thrilled to hear you had such a fun time in our dumpling-making class. Our instructor was delighted to guide you through the art of dumpling making. It’s fantastic that you embraced the challenge with such enthusiasm. Remember, the joy is in the experience and the flavors, and you've done an amazing job! Your willingness to dive into the art of dumplings is truly commendable. We hope to see you again for more delicious adventures. Warm regards, Trippest Customer Service Team

Nice experience about different shapes for dumplings - but not a lot of 'cooking'
Yin the instructor was a very nice person. We had a very good time making dumplings and talking about art, Chinese history and culture, tea and other things. But regarding the cooking part, I have to say the experience was average compared to other classes I have taken. Reasons: (1) there was only 1 kind of filling for the dumplings [it would have been nice to try at least a couple and discuss the differences in the condiments and so on], (2) the filling was already prepared when I arrived [again, no opportunity to discuss how to season and possible different was to do it and so on] and (3) almost the whole workshop was about the different shapes and colours of the dumplings, which is nice, but there should be much more to a cooking class.
Response from the operator: Dear Albert, Thank you very much for sharing your experience with the Chinese Kitchen Cooking Class. We're glad to hear you enjoyed making dumplings and engaging in cultural discussions with Yin. We will take your suggestions into account to enhance the culinary experience, including offering a variety of fillings and involving guests more in the preparation process. We appreciate your insights and hope to provide a more enriching cooking class in the future. Have a nice day! Best Regards, Trippest Customer Care.

Why this scores 49
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
2.5hrs Chinese Kitchen Cooking Class: Art Steamed Dumplings: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Shanghai.
How much does 2.5hrs Chinese Kitchen Cooking Class: Art Steamed Dumplings cost?
+
Prices start at $79 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Shanghai usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does 2.5hrs Chinese Kitchen Cooking Class: Art Steamed Dumplings take?
+
Plan for about 2.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Shanghai is not rushed.
Is 2.5hrs Chinese Kitchen Cooking Class: Art Steamed Dumplings worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 49 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable food & drink in Shanghai, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule 2.5hrs Chinese Kitchen Cooking Class: Art Steamed Dumplings?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is 2.5hrs Chinese Kitchen Cooking Class: Art Steamed Dumplings suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 3. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 2.5-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book 2.5hrs Chinese Kitchen Cooking Class: Art Steamed Dumplings?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Shanghai can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Shanghai and add a light layer if any part of the 2.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does 2.5hrs Chinese Kitchen Cooking Class: Art Steamed Dumplings start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Shanghai within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Shanghai?
+
On Outty we rank every Shanghai experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Private Shanghai Full Day City Tour with Old and New Highlights, Suzhou Private Day Trip from Shanghai with Bullet Train Option, 4-Hour Flexible Private Shanghai City Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Shanghai?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Shanghai?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
