A Wellington Experience not to be missed.
I'm still feeling elated after an amazing helicopter flight today. The weather was perfect and the whole experience was fantastic. I was impressed with James who kept in touch with me to inform me of available times to fly. The staff were all friendly and helpful when we boarded the helicopter and we were given clear safety instructions. An informative commentary from our pilot made the day. Certainly a day to remember!

Awesome experience
Me and my son 15years old, absolutely loved it. The pilot Andy was amazing at explaining all the different venues/places belows. He was very friendly. The guy who explained all the safety guides was very friendly too. Took a photo of us in front of helicopter.

Disgusting treatment shown to guests in our City.
We had family from WA visiting and enjoyed showing them our beautiful city. They booked the 2.30pm 15 minute flight the night prior. Paid for and confirmed. Day of flight, 4/3/19, they went to check in early and were told a flight had just left for the Wairarapa. They may get a flight at 3.30 but they wouldn't guarantee it. (When booking there was only an 11.30 and the 2.30). Very bad attitude from staff, couldn't care less. Family leaving next day so refund given. What a disgrace!
Response from the operator: Dear Imhooper, Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback to Wellington Helicopters, it is always good to hear from our customer’s perspective and we are disappointed that you feel that way. Whilst we understand your frustration at not being able to view our beautiful city with your family, we would like to explain the terms and conditions which are inherent to booking a scenic helicopter flight as well as your particular situation. Our scenic flights operate on two main variables prior to confirming the departure time – the weather conditions and having minimum passenger numbers (4 passengers) for the flight. These terms and conditions are outlined on our website and on the Viator booking page. We do our best to schedule flights to ensure they go ahead but there will be times due to either unsuitable weather conditions or lack of minimum numbers that the flights cannot proceed. We received your booking at 5.30pm (after office hours) the day before the flight through Viator for 2 passengers. We messaged you through Viator at 8.38am the following morning as soon as we opened to advise that the flight was not confirmed. We tried our best to fill the flight by delaying the departure time to allow more people to book onto it. It is unfortunate the flight did not go ahead, especially when your family was only available that day – usually if people are able to, we try to reschedule them to an alternative day and time that suits. Viator requires that we offer specific time slots for our scenic flights to enable you to make a booking, however, our flights are organised to suit demand and often bookings are adjusted to suit a mutually agreed time to ensure we meet the minimum numbers for each flight. It’s worth noting that the confirmation you received when you booked was an automatic confirmation from Viator, and we receive no payment for the flight from Viator until it is completed. We confirm manually with the client as soon as possible, which we feel we did in this instance given the time of booking and the time of our response. We thank you for your understanding of the situation and have ensured you have been fully refunded for the booking. Kind Regards, The Team at Wellington Helicopters

Why this scores 51
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
15-Minute Wellington Harbour Helicopter Flight: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Wellington.
How much does 15-Minute Wellington Harbour Helicopter Flight cost?
+
Prices start at $179 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Wellington usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does 15-Minute Wellington Harbour Helicopter Flight take?
+
Plan for about 0.3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Wellington is not rushed.
Is 15-Minute Wellington Harbour Helicopter Flight worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 51 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.3/5 across 10 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Wellington, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule 15-Minute Wellington Harbour Helicopter Flight?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is 15-Minute Wellington Harbour Helicopter Flight suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 0.3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book 15-Minute Wellington Harbour Helicopter Flight?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Wellington can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Wellington and add a light layer if any part of the 0.3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does 15-Minute Wellington Harbour Helicopter Flight start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Wellington within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Wellington?
+
On Outty we rank every Wellington experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Overnight Experience Tour on Kapiti Island, Discover Wellington 3 hour City Tour, Martinborough Wine and Wild Coast Tour from Wellington. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Wellington?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Wellington?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
