More than guide, like a good friend showing us around her hometown.

What a great experience! My wife and I came to Beijing for the first time on our 25th wedding anniversary. We had a one-day tour, but wished we would booked our guide for the entire time we were in China. Our guide was easy to get in touch before the tour and had no issues with a last minute hotel pickup change. We visited Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, the Great Wall and participated in a Traditional Chinese tea ceremony to complete our day. Having a guide, made all the difference, and made our experience so much more memorable and informative. She also helped us from falling for the typical tourist traps, (and in our case getting out of one, we fell for before we met up with her ;) We’ve done several guided tours over the years, but our guide Lizzie was more like a good friend showing us around her hometown. If you do a tour anywhere near Beijing we recommend enough travelchinaguide.com, and asking if Lizzie she’s available. Much love ❤️

Response from the operator: Many thanks for your generous and touching review. We're deeply honored that you chose us for such a special occasion as your 25th wedding anniversary. We're delighted that Lizzie's warm, friendly, and knowledgeable guidance made your first Beijing visit so memorable and helped you avoid tourist traps. We'll be sure to share your kind words and appreciation with her. We look forward to welcoming you back to China!

    First tour in China

What a fantastic trip! Our guide, Linda Xie, was friendly, really accommodating and helped make the trip. Her historical knowledge really opened our eyes. The tour was well organised, being dropped off very close to where we needed to be and being picked up within minutes. They also organised porters at Beijing West Station who took our luggage from the coach, through security and onto the train. One suggestion I'd like to make is for a little bit of time for us to look at local products/souvenirs. Being our first tour in China, we were a bit apprehensive, but I can see us using this company again. Communication during the booking process with Emily was very easy too. Hope to see you again!

Response from the operator: Thank you for this wonderful and thoughtful review! Linda will be so happy to hear that her friendly, knowledgeable guidance made your first China trip so memorable. We're glad the logistics—from seamless pickups to the porters at Beijing West Station—helped everything run smoothly. We also truly appreciate your suggestion about souvenir time; it's valuable feedback we'll take on board. And knowing that you'd use us again and that Emily made booking easy means a great deal to us. We hope to welcome you back for more great experiences in the future!

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Beijing.

How much does 11-Day Small-Group China Tour: Beijing, Xi'an, Guilin, Yangshuo and Shanghai cost?

    +

Prices start at $2209 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Beijing usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does 11-Day Small-Group China Tour: Beijing, Xi'an, Guilin, Yangshuo and Shanghai take?

    +

Plan for about 264 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Beijing is not rushed.

Is 11-Day Small-Group China Tour: Beijing, Xi'an, Guilin, Yangshuo and Shanghai worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 80 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 334 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Beijing, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule 11-Day Small-Group China Tour: Beijing, Xi'an, Guilin, Yangshuo and Shanghai?

    +

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is 11-Day Small-Group China Tour: Beijing, Xi'an, Guilin, Yangshuo and Shanghai suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 264-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book 11-Day Small-Group China Tour: Beijing, Xi'an, Guilin, Yangshuo and Shanghai?

    +

Around 117 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Beijing can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Beijing and add a light layer if any part of the 264-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does 11-Day Small-Group China Tour: Beijing, Xi'an, Guilin, Yangshuo and Shanghai start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Beijing within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Beijing?

    +

On Outty we rank every Beijing experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Mubus: Mutianyu Great Wall Bus Tour with Summer Palace Options, Beijing: Top 6 Highlights All Inclusive 2-Day Private Tour, Private Mutianyu Great Wall Trip With English-Speaking Driver. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Beijing?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Beijing?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
