    Beautiful Romanian Odyssey

Our UnzipRomania Customised Tour was truly excellent - every part of our trip was carefully planned and well organised. Our guide Chris was superb - highly personable, considerate and knowledgeable. Romania is a beautiful country with many well-preserved historical sites. Thankyou so much.

We count ourselves fortunate to have selected Unzip Romania for our introduction to this beautiful country. Our guide, Christian, provided an excellent experience with honest insight into Romanian history. The tour included a great balance of different types of historical sites, beautiful scenery, and regular Romanian life. Each night’s lodgings were well selected and the food was Amazing!! We plan to return to Romania and will definitely hire Unzip Romania again!

Great trip, great company (in all respects)

We had a 10 day custom tour of Romania in June 2019, and from the first communication by email to the final drop off, everything was exceptional. Organising the tour by email with Diana was easy, and she was flexible with the arrangements, made thoughtful and sensible suggestions and was very considerate of our requirements. Our guide, Gabriel had an encyclopedic knowledge of all things Romania, from history and architecture to food and culture. He was a pleasure to travel with and we had some wonderful conversations. Unzip Romania is a small company who are flexible and can cater for individual needs, but has guides with many years experience who can make changes to the program as the need arises - in our case the weather prevented us from going on a planned hike, and another attraction was closed unexpectedly, so Gabriel gave us a number of options which provided us with some fabulous, unexpected experiences. This sort of experience in the field and willingness to make changes on the fly was much appreciated. We recommend Unzip Romania without hesitation.

Really a 7 day tour of Romania including most of the country

Gabriel "Gabby" Florea was our tour guide for 7 days and took us on tour of: Bucharest - including Parliament Palace and the "Old Town" (we were sorry we missed the Village Museum - as it is highly recommended, but closed on the day we were there (closed Monday's in the winter fall/months)); Bucovina (Voronet Monastery); Painted Monasteries of Humor, Sucevita, Moldovita; Black Pottery Workshop; Painted Eggs Museum; Drove thru Bicaz Gorges (and then walked back thru); Red Lake; Sighisoara - Biertan Fortified Church; Transylvania -- Brasov; Libearty Bear Sanctuary; Rasnov Fortress; Peles Castle; Sinaia Monastery and Bran Castle (Castle of Dracula). We had no idea of what to expect in Romania and were very pleased with the tour and the country. Gabby went above and beyond on making sure we had a good time. The tour included everything we wanted to see in the time we had. My wife and I toured with another couple we are friends and we traveled in a 9 passenger van (4 more relatives of our friends joined the tour for 2 days) with Gabby driving and talking as we toured. He was a very safe/careful driver. He knew as much as anyone we have met about their country and its history (which was actually very interesting to learn). He was easy to understand and had a good sense of humor. The tour mixed the castles/monasteries with nature type things (which we liked as we can get "over castled" quickly). We laughed our way through Romania as we saw most of the highlights of Romania for the time we had to visit. He also took us to good restaurants and was able to get better seating locations than we would have and also able to get us in to some "restricted" areas of attractions. We ran into to other guides during the week that Gabby had trained or helped over the years. We would highly recommend Gabby for touring any parts of Romania.

11-Day Romania Tour from Bucharest with Transylvania & Bucovina: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Bucharest.

How much does 11-Day Romania Tour from Bucharest with Transylvania & Bucovina cost?

    +

Prices start at $2438 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Bucharest usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does 11-Day Romania Tour from Bucharest with Transylvania & Bucovina take?

    +

Plan for about 264 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Bucharest is not rushed.

Is 11-Day Romania Tour from Bucharest with Transylvania & Bucovina worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Bucharest, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule 11-Day Romania Tour from Bucharest with Transylvania & Bucovina?

    +

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is 11-Day Romania Tour from Bucharest with Transylvania & Bucovina suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 264-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book 11-Day Romania Tour from Bucharest with Transylvania & Bucovina?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Bucharest can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Bucharest and add a light layer if any part of the 264-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does 11-Day Romania Tour from Bucharest with Transylvania & Bucovina start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Bucharest within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Bucharest?

    +

On Outty we rank every Bucharest experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Real tour of Communism, Bucharest Highlights Walking Tour, Top Gear Road, Small-group max 7 pax with Pick-up, Transfăgărăşan. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Bucharest?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Bucharest?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
