Thank you to the whole team for the great memories!

We recently spent 10 days traveling around Ethiopia with Danakil Depression Tours, and it was honestly one of the most interesting trips we have ever done. We wanted to see very different parts of Ethiopia, so we chose an itinerary that included Lalibela, the Danakil Depression, Abune Yemata and the Omo Valley. It was a busy trip, but everything was well organized and we never felt lost or unsure about what was happening next. We started in Lalibela, and the rock-hewn churches were incredible to see in person. Photos really don't show how impressive they are. Our guide took us around the different churches and explained the history and religious significance without making the tour feel like a history lecture. We also had time to walk around and enjoy the town. Then came the Danakil Depression, which was probably the most unusual part of the trip. The heat was intense and some of the roads were definitely rough, but that's part of the adventure. Seeing the salt landscape, Lake Assale and the strange colors and formations around Dallol was something completely different from anything we had seen before. Camping in such a remote place was also an experience we will remember. We then traveled to the Gheralta Mountains to visit Abune Yemata. We knew beforehand that the climb would be difficult, but it was still more challenging than we expected! There are some steep and exposed sections, so you need to be comfortable with heights. Our local guide was very patient and helped us along the way. When we finally reached the church and saw where it was built into the cliff, it was absolutely worth the effort. The last part of the trip was the Omo Valley, where we visited Hamer, Karo and Mursi communities. This was very different again. We enjoyed seeing how people live, their traditional clothing, houses, farming and daily activities. Having local guides with us helped us understand what we were seeing instead of simply arriving, taking photos and leaving. One thing we really appreciated was how the team handled all the logistics. This was not an easy itinerary because we were traveling through very different and remote parts of Ethiopia, but the flights, vehicles, hotels, meals and local guides were all arranged for us. There were definitely some long drives, early mornings, heat and uncomfortable roads during the trip, but we expected that when we chose this itinerary. For us, those things were part of the experience rather than a problem. The guides and drivers were friendly and we felt well looked after throughout the 10 days. Whenever something needed to be changed or adjusted, the team helped us sort it out. A big thank you to everyone at Danakil Depression Tours for making the trip such a memorable experience. Ethiopia has so much variety, and in just 10 days we saw places that felt completely different from one another. If you are looking for a trip that combines history, adventure, incredible landscapes and different cultures, we would definitely recommend this itinerary. Thank you to the whole team for the great memories! 🇪🇹❤️

An Unforgettable Journey Through Ethiopia – Lalibela, Danakil & Omo Valley

We had an absolutely incredible experience exploring Ethiopia with Danakil Depression Tours. From the ancient churches of Lalibela to the extreme landscapes of the Danakil Depression and the fascinating cultures of the Omo Valley, every part of our journey was unforgettable. Lalibela was truly magical. Visiting the famous rock-hewn churches was one of the highlights of our trip. The churches are extraordinary, but what made the experience even more special was having a knowledgeable local guide who explained the history, traditions, architecture, and religious significance of each place. Walking through the ancient tunnels and seeing the churches carved directly into the rock was something we will never forget. Then came the Danakil Depression, which was completely different from Lalibela. The landscape felt like another planet. The salt flats, colorful mineral formations, volcanic scenery, and the incredible environment around Lake Assale were spectacular. The organization of the trip was excellent, especially considering the difficult conditions and extreme heat. Our driver, guides, and support team were professional, helpful, and always concerned about our comfort and safety. The meals and camping arrangements were much better than we expected for such a remote destination. The Omo Valley was another unforgettable experience. We had the opportunity to meet different communities and learn about their traditions and daily lives. Seeing the cultures of the Hamer, Mursi, Karo, and other communities gave us a completely different understanding of Ethiopia. Our guide helped us interact respectfully with local people and explained the cultural traditions rather than simply taking us from one place to another. The landscapes, villages, markets, and cultural experiences made this part of the trip incredibly memorable. What impressed us most about Danakil Depression Tours was the organization. Communication was easy, transportation was reliable, the itinerary was well planned, and the team was flexible whenever we needed something. We always felt that we were in good hands. A special thank you to the entire team for making our Ethiopian adventure so enjoyable. Ethiopia is an amazing country with an incredible combination of history, landscapes, wildlife, and cultures, and Danakil Depression Tours helped us experience all of it in the best possible way. Lalibela, Danakil Depression, and Omo Valley were three completely different experiences, and together they made one extraordinary trip. I would highly recommend Danakil Depression Tours to anyone planning to discover Ethiopia. Professional, friendly, knowledgeable, and reliable. 5 stars without hesitation! 🇪🇹❤️

First of all, we want to thank the owner, Mickey, who was extremely kind, polite, supportive, honest, and always available whenever we needed help or information. From the beginning of the planning process until the end of the tour, he made everything easy and stress-free. His professionalism and genuine care for his guests made a big difference in our experience. In Lalibela, we were accompanied by our excellent driver Woreku and our knowledgeable guide Ayalew. They made our visit to the rock-hewn churches truly special. Ayalew explained the history, culture, and religious significance of the churches in such an interesting and passionate way, while Woreku always ensured we traveled safely and comfortably. The Danakil Depression was one of the most unique and extraordinary places we have ever visited. Our driver Nati was fantastic throughout the trip. 10 Days Addis Danakil lalibela and omo valley: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Addis Ababa.

How much does 10 Days Addis Danakil lalibela and omo valley cost?

    +

Prices start at $1,800 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Addis Ababa usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does 10 Days Addis Danakil lalibela and omo valley take?

    +

Plan for about 240 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Addis Ababa is not rushed.

Is 10 Days Addis Danakil lalibela and omo valley worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 72 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Addis Ababa, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule 10 Days Addis Danakil lalibela and omo valley?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is 10 Days Addis Danakil lalibela and omo valley suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 240-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book 10 Days Addis Danakil lalibela and omo valley?

    +

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Addis Ababa can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Addis Ababa and add a light layer if any part of the 240-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does 10 Days Addis Danakil lalibela and omo valley start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Addis Ababa within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Addis Ababa?

    +

On Outty we rank every Addis Ababa experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Addis Ababa Authentic Private City Tour, Addis Ababa Guided City Tour With Airport & Hotel Pick Up, Full Day Tour of Addis Ababa with Hotel Pickup and Drop-off. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Addis Ababa?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Addis Ababa?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.

What is included in 10 Days Addis Danakil lalibela and omo valley?

    +

Included: Government tax; Admission fees; Accommodation lodge, hotels and camping; Entrance fees; and Lunch. Always check the voucher for the final list before you travel.

    +

Yes, pickup is offered, or you can meet at the start point instead from 3 listed pickup locations in and around Addis Ababa. Be ready about 30 minutes before the start time. You can also enter a custom pickup address when booking.

What languages is 10 Days Addis Danakil lalibela and omo valley offered in?

    +
