Amazing 10 day China trip by Travel China Guide

Kian our travel advisor did an amazing job tailoring our trip by coordinating all the guides and drivers in each location. We had the trip of a lifetime. Our guides all spoke great English and went at our slower pace. Dennis in Beijing was memorable for his athleticism on the Great Wall of China. I wouldn’t have experienced the whole thing without his help. Tracy in Xian was super about telling us about the history of China in a fun way that didn’t make it like you were in school. My parents thought that she was funny, and read the group well. I really appreciate that she cautioned us about fake items at the market. She also had great suggestions for where we should have lunch and recommend a great dinner show where traditional dumplings were made. Yuki in Chengdu lived the relaxed life like that of the panda. She was excellent at finding them in their enclosures and enthusiastically was just as excited to see them even though she goes to the reserve many times a week with tour groups. We got to share a wonderful meal with her at a very popular local restaurant. Her suggestions for what to order were delicious. Not something we would have picked on our own. In Shanghai Mei was a wealth of knowledge that she shared with us freely. She knew about every building in the Shanghai skyline. She also knew where to get great deals at the market, the best spot to get a snack, and the best restaurant I ate at in China. Everyone made us feel welcome and wanted us to have a great time. I enjoyed feeling like even though I only spent a day or two with each guide that I got to know them and their country. I will never forget this awesome trip and will recommend this tour company to anyone that ever asks me “where should I go”.

Response from the operator: Dear Laurie G, thank you for taking time to post your experience! What we strive for is offering you with smooth and enjoyable trips. Travel China Guide private tour of Shanghai

The Shanghai portion of our Travel China Guide tour was fast paced and guided by Sophie Lee who was outstanding. Sophie’s knowledge and experience of Shanghai were excellent. She took great care of the two of us which allowed use to maximize our time. As our private guide, Sophie was a strong advocate for us whatever and wherever we went. Her English was very good and always explained our itinerary in detail. Her driver and the van were also very good.

Response from the operator: Dear Freddy Y, thank you for taking time to share your experience with us! It is our honor to travel with you again, which is a great recognition of our service. We are delighted to see your trip was smooth and enjoyable. Thank you for keeping trusting us, we look forward to serving you on your next vacation! Best regards from TravelChinaGuide Tours.

The tour we did was absolutely amazing and so well organised for the start to the finish. All of the guides and drivers were brilliant, knowledgeable and friendly. The assistance throughout the planning stage of our trip was faultless too, everything was completely tailored to our requirements and no request was too much trouble. 12 wonderful days into China

We started our incredible trip to China right from the capital, spending 4 days there. Upon arrival, we were welcomed by a smiling Emily who was our guide for this experience. Without his support it would have been difficult to move forward but above all to make ourselves understood. The first day we dedicated to some food tours that we had booked independently before arriving. From the second day the real discoveries began, again together with Emily, we visited the Temple of Heaven, the Forbidden City, and the Temple of the Lamas. Truly magnificent structures full of history. The following day we set off for the Great Wall and even though the weather was foggy, we managed to enjoy the arduous walk and the view once we reached the highest point still accessible to tourists. In the evening there was no shortage of delicious dinner based on the famous Peking duck, a delight. Before leaving Beijing for the next stop (Xi'an) we made an inspection where the recent 2022 Olympic Games were held and then visited the Summer Palace. Thanks to Emily and her skills, in just a few days we visited the best of Beijing and were able to listen to the history of the emperors and the various dynasties that followed one another over the years. Beijing is definitely worth a visit. Thanks Emily, see you soon, who knows. Next stop, after a train trip, Xi'An. Thanks to the friendly and welcoming local guide Céline it was possible to visit the famous army of terracotta soldiers, admire the Buddhist pagoda, take a tour of the city walls and walk among the Chinese pensioners admiring how they spend their days. Not only that, we had the experience of dressing for a few hours in the typical clothes inspired by the Thang dynasty and attending a cultural show at the city theater with traditional dances, songs and music. Last but not least we visited the mosque and the Muslim quarter of the city. All enriched by the precise and detailed explanations of Céline who immediately proved to be competent and open to our questions and curiosities. There was no shortage of valuable advice on the food to taste; the dumplings and typical nudles in the Muslim quarter, a delight. Stop in Xi'an highly recommended, thank you Céline for your availability and professionalism. After another train journey we arrived in Chengdu, where the young Sherry was waiting to take us to the hotel. The stay here is short but intense. The day after arrival we spend it at the Gianta Panda Base Camp, not the only one but by far the largest and most famous in China. We were able to enjoy the sight of the adorable giant pandas and their brothers, the little red pandas. It was a super day in this immense reserve where these mammals feel truly at ease, definitely worth a visit if you are passing through Chengdu. Sherry then introduced us to a real tea house, what a relaxed and peaceful environment, a unique experience. How can you not try the typical and very spicy Hot Pot??? It's a must. Early the next day we say goodbye to Sherry and thank her for her time spent together and with a domestic flight we head towards our last half; Shanghai. Waiting for us in an unusually sultry Shanghai (30°) is Cuck, who with his gab immediately tells us about the first visit to the old Zhujiajiao village, where we taste the steecky rice with pork, mmmmh. We were then accompanied to the hotel for check-in, then we went alone into the Yu Garden area and tasted some absolutely delicious Xiaolongbao. The next day we spend it all with Chuck starting from the visit to the Yu-Garden, then we enjoy a lunch with him and with a full belly we then go to the Shanghai Tower area to steal some shots with the most impressive skyscrapers. Next we go to the imposing Shanghai Museum East, inaugurated a few months ago. It would take a day to visit it all but we are happy with a couple of hours. To conclude the cold but interesting day with Cuck (yesterday 30° - today 10°) we enjoy a cruise on the Huangpu river to admire the Bund and all the other skyscrapers. We spend the last two days free and enjoy some relaxation in the hotel and the surrounding area, visiting the Pearl Tower and the Bund in search of our last Xiaolongbao. Thanks to Cuck for the support and transfer to the airport, the time has come to return. An unforgettable experience, which we certainly recommend, especially with a guided tour planned in advance. Thanks to the guides who accompanied and supported us in this adventure.

Ones upon a time in Shanghai.

Although we went to more places than we had expected, it seems as though one day was not enough for our stay in Shanghai. Starting with the Shanghai Museum, we were very lucky to be able to experience the majestic Persian Exhibition. After the museum, we went to have the most exquisite lunch of our entire trip at the Shanghai Chic. Then we went to the Yu Garden. We learned about the hidden secrets of the garden that our guide, Ryan, enlightened us with about many Chinese architectural designs. Next, Ryan took us to a hidden viewpoint that showcased the stark contrast between old and new buildings in the area. The next location we went to was the Jinmao Tower. To have a very great panoramic view, which was slightly unnerving, was amazing. We had extra time, so we went to the Shanghai Aquarium. Overall, the trip was very informative, thanks to our guide, Ryan, who could speak superb English and was very knowledgeable. Another thanks to Reo who picked us up at the airport and also sent us comfortably on our way back.

Response from the operator: Dear Tonz T, thank you for sharing your wonderful experience in Shanghai! How cheerful to see you loved your trip and our travel service. We have tour service in more than 120 countries globally and we will be happy to have a chance to serve you in the future to explore more travel destinations. Best regards.

10-Day China Tour to Beijing, Xian, Chengdu and Shanghai: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Beijing.

How much does 10-Day China Tour to Beijing, Xian, Chengdu and Shanghai cost?

    +

Prices start at $2799 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Beijing usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does 10-Day China Tour to Beijing, Xian, Chengdu and Shanghai take?

    +

Plan for about 240 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Beijing is not rushed.

Is 10-Day China Tour to Beijing, Xian, Chengdu and Shanghai worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 61 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 17 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Beijing, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule 10-Day China Tour to Beijing, Xian, Chengdu and Shanghai?

    +

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is 10-Day China Tour to Beijing, Xian, Chengdu and Shanghai suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 240-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book 10-Day China Tour to Beijing, Xian, Chengdu and Shanghai?

    +

Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Beijing can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Beijing and add a light layer if any part of the 240-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does 10-Day China Tour to Beijing, Xian, Chengdu and Shanghai start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Beijing within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Beijing?

    +

On Outty we rank every Beijing experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Mubus: Mutianyu Great Wall Bus Tour with Summer Palace Options, Beijing: Top 6 Highlights All Inclusive 2-Day Private Tour, Private Mutianyu Great Wall Trip With English-Speaking Driver. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Beijing?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Beijing?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
