Great surf lesson but had a few issues

The bad: We scheduled a one hour surf lesson. When we showed up the instructor asked if it was okay to add one more person to our lesson. We were put on the spot and said yes even though there was another instructor willing to take the other person. The instructor said he would go 15-20 minutes longer so we thought that was a good trade off. Well…… he literally ended on time. Did not give the extra time as promised. We knew we would not be professional surfers at the end of the lesson but honestly it wasn’t good business Parking——— we followed our gps and since this was our first day in Cocoa Beach we were unaware of paid parking and the sign was hidden behind a tree so we got charged a $54 citation for parking. After speaking with another instructor, they asked if we were not informed of the free parking across the street. We were NOT told of any of this. I can’t blame the business for this but it would have been nice to know so take note. Good: the instructor was very personable and helpful. Had the other issues not arisen it would have been great!

Response from the operator: Hi! Thanks for leaving us a good review. Sorry you got a parking ticket. There are signs all over the parking lot like you mentioned . Immost of Florida you have to pay to park for the beach and that’s just an unfortunate reality. If you would’ve asked, I would’ve obviously mentioned it, but I do apologize that I didn’t bring it up and that you gotta take it. You can always try to call the number on the back of the ticket and try to object to it and file a claim how you didn’t see the signs and they were hidden like you mentioned in the comment . it might be worth a shot. They are usually pretty friendly and like to work with people and forgive first time offenders. Can’t make any promises on that, but I’ve seen them drop tickets before. I also just wanted to mention the other person you spoke to. She is not my instructor. She’s never done a Surf Lesson for me and she doesn’t do Surf Lessons at all . She’s just a local girl that surfs and her mom works at the beach as well. So any information from her is not representative of me and my company and although maybe she just parked there for free but there are signs everywhere that says that they tow in that hotel lot and a lot of people wouldn’t risk that. I for one know I would feel horrible if I told someone to park there and their car got towed .She also doesn’t have enough experience to be representative of me and my company so I wouldn’t have her do any lessons for me unless I trained her first she may have offered and that was nice of her but unfortunately I can’t just put anybody on my Surf Lessons. As far as the other Lesson, I also mentioned that the ball was completely in your court on that and you could’ve told me no that you just wanted the private lesson as well! I would happily honored that. The way Surf Lesson’s work sometimes it’s funner with a group other times it’s not. I appreciate you letting her join in as they had to leave at 11:30 and had you just wanted the private spot that girl would never have gotten the experience of Surfing. But I did ask and you could’ve just told me no we want a private lesson and I would’ve happily honored that. I always give priority to my lessons that book in advance versus walk ups off the beach. And lastly, I actually did ask your daughter if she wanted to hold onto the boards and keep Surfing and try it on her own (which is the next step of progression after you’ve been pushed into waves for a whole hour) but she turned my offer down . I would’ve happily let y’all hold onto the boards as long as needed. And yes, I was freezing from just standing there for an hour which is why I finished exactly after an hour but if y’all would’ve bugged me enough I would’ve gotten back out there for y’all ha ha. But I did offer the freeboard rental to your daughter, which we usually charge More for that but she declined. Anyways, you guys were awesome. Y’all did amazing and we hope to earn your business again! If you have any other issues, you can just contact me directly I’d be happy to clear things up. Thanks for Surfing with us.

    Great Experience!

My family (self, wife, and 7 year-old) really enjoyed our 1-hour private surfing lesson with Franky. Thanks to Franky's instruction, all three of us were surprisingly able to surf...with varying levels of success. Our 7-year was actually the best at it! Anyway, we had a great time and highly recommend Franky if you're looking to try your hand at surfing.

    Awesome experience

Had an amazing experience today with Franky! Our boys (15 and 11) had a one-hour lesson and absolutely loved every minute of it. From the moment we arrived, Franky was friendly, patient, and encouraging. He had both boys standing up on their boards in no time and spent real quality time talking to them about surfing, sharing his knowledge and passion for the sport. You can tell this is someone who genuinely loves surfing and wants others to enjoy it too, rather than just treating it as a job. We couldn’t have asked for a better instructor and would highly recommend him to anyone thinking of giving surfing a go. Fair warning though, as Franky predicted, our boys now seem convinced they’re destined to become full-time surfers! 😎🏄‍♂️ Thanks again, Franky

We had a great time, and Frankie was an excellent and very chill instructor. It was great for beginners. The experience was definitely a highlight of our trip and well worth the time and money.

1-Hour Private Surf Lesson in Cocoa Beach: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cocoa Beach.

How much does 1-Hour Private Surf Lesson in Cocoa Beach cost?

    +

Prices start at $75 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cocoa Beach usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does 1-Hour Private Surf Lesson in Cocoa Beach take?

    +

Plan for about 1 hour from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cocoa Beach is not rushed.

Is 1-Hour Private Surf Lesson in Cocoa Beach worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 68 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 59 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cocoa Beach, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule 1-Hour Private Surf Lesson in Cocoa Beach?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is 1-Hour Private Surf Lesson in Cocoa Beach suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book 1-Hour Private Surf Lesson in Cocoa Beach?

    +

Around 21 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cocoa Beach can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cocoa Beach and add a light layer if any part of the 1-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does 1-Hour Private Surf Lesson in Cocoa Beach start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cocoa Beach within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cocoa Beach?

    +

Cocoa Beach sells surf lessons, airboat rides on the St Johns, bioluminescent kayak paddles in summer and rocket launch viewing cruises, with Kennedy Space Center a short drive north. On Outty we rank every Cocoa Beach experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Mangrove Tunnels, Dolphins, Manatee Tour #1 Rated in Cocoa Beach, Wizard of OZ Museum tour, Cocoa Beach Dolphin and Wildlife Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cocoa Beach?

    +

March to May and September to November; check launch schedules before booking. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cocoa Beach?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
