Amazing tour with Aiben!
Aiben was an amazing tour guide—fun, knowledgeable, and attentive. Everything went so smoothly from start to finish. The driver was excellent as well. The hike itself was beautiful, and Aiben even took great photos of us along the way. Lunch was fantastic with so much variety, including options for vegetarians. I accidentally left my glove in the car after being dropped off at the hotel, and they went above and beyond by bringing it back and leaving it at the reception.

The best Rainbow Mountain experience!
Rainbow Mountain is an amazing place to experience, truly a wonder of the world. Flashpacker knows how to get you to this place so you get the most enjoyment out of it. Our car arrived at 3 AM, which is early but really the right time (we got there at 6:30) to get ahead of the crowd and enjoyed the beauty of the area in peace. The road to Rainbow Mountain converts about halfwa to dirt and is quite windy, but Fernando, our driver, was excellent! No queasy stomachs. Freddy was our guide for the hike. The hike is pretty gradual, but you’re at really high elevation, over 15,000 feet, so you feel the hike. Freddy was very attentive, suggesting many breaks to catch her breath. He did a great job explaining what we were seeing, which is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Pictures don’t do it justice. Freddy is an experienced guide and he gave us a holistic understanding on Rainbow Mountain and the other glaciers/mountains you see, along with their significance to the Inca’s. The day ended with a lunch at Chef Mario’s house, which was a surprise. It was a feast of local foods, chicken and beef dishes, and of course potatoes! It was a delicious and to a delightful day. Thank you Fernando, Freddy, and Mario!

Fantastic Tres Mountains and Rock Forest!
Palccoyo, Tres Mountains did not disappoint! We were greeted by our guide Rosbel and we joined three other travelers. The drive took about 3 1/2 hours. As we got higher and closer to Palyccoyo, flocks of alpaca dotted the steep green terraced slopes. We had a tasty breakfast provided by Flashpacker Connect and then started our hike. Taking a slow pace, I was able to deal with the 16,000 ft. Elevation. Rosbel was a wonderful guide, giving us information, taking our photos and making sure I was alright. We had a gorgeous partly sunny day, clouds were very picturesque. The tres rainbow mountains were beautiful with different bands of color. It was glorious the see the multi-striped mountains. We took ample photos and then headed to the rock forest which took a steeper turn, but we had amazing views from the top of the rocks with the tres mountains in the background. After several hours we finished and were treated to a Peruvian buffet at a house. It was one the most delicious meals I’ve had in Peru without the pretense. Our driver David handled the hairpin curves and passing with ease. Highly recommend this trek!

Bernie, Fidel and Cristobal went above and beyond!
We booked the Palcoyyo with Inka Bridge extension and the guys at fkashpacker went above and beyond for us. I don’t know why anyone would choose rainbow mountain with all the people over palcoyyo. We had the whole place to ourselves for almost our whole time there. We loved learning Quechua language and customs with Bernie and nothing was too much. When we return we will definitely be requesting him to take us to wherever we decide to go on the next trip!

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cusco.
How much does 1 Day Tour to Palccoyo (Alternative Rainbow Mtn) from Cusco, Peru cost?
+
Prices start at $118 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cusco usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does 1 Day Tour to Palccoyo (Alternative Rainbow Mtn) from Cusco, Peru take?
+
Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cusco is not rushed.
Is 1 Day Tour to Palccoyo (Alternative Rainbow Mtn) from Cusco, Peru worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 67 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 53 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable outdoors in Cusco, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule 1 Day Tour to Palccoyo (Alternative Rainbow Mtn) from Cusco, Peru?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is 1 Day Tour to Palccoyo (Alternative Rainbow Mtn) from Cusco, Peru suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 18. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 10-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book 1 Day Tour to Palccoyo (Alternative Rainbow Mtn) from Cusco, Peru?
+
Around 19 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cusco can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cusco and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does 1 Day Tour to Palccoyo (Alternative Rainbow Mtn) from Cusco, Peru start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cusco within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Cusco?
+
On Outty we rank every Cusco experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Sacred Valley Full Day Tour, Full-Day Humantay Lake Trek (Meals Included), Cusco: Rainbow Mountain & Red Valley Premium Day Trip with Meals. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Cusco?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Cusco?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
