Wonderful Experience!

Naomi is a passionate health professional and chef who takes the time to explain the process of making miso. This is a hands on experience that requires you to mix your own ingredients under her direction. It is a lot of fun and peaceful! I strongly recommend this experience to anyone who wants to do something unique in Japan, learn more about healthy eating and Japanese cooking, and enjoys being around good energy.

Response from the operator: Thank you for visiting making miso experience. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Also I was really happy you loved handmade mochi!! I hope you enjoy making mochi by yourself. Thank you!!

Lesson of making Miso in easy way

In this experience, we can make miso in the easy method. Usually, making miso takes long time to soak and crush soy beans. But in this experience, we use okara(soybean curd refuse). So we don't need bothering steps. It was super easy. And Naomi told me the valuable tips for health. It was great time!!

Response from the operator: Thank you for taking my lesson.Exactly, the method is very easy and okara (soybean curd refuse)is disposed of as industrial waste so it's effective use of okara. Miso is yummy and good for our health both physically and mentally. I hope to enjoy miso dishes.

Amazing miso making class!

I took the miso making class and it was a wonderful experience. The instructor Naomi is very nice and she did an excellent job explaining what to do and it was so much fun and easy! The location was very close to the Kyoto Jr station, it takes only about 8 minutes to walk. The atmosphere of the Samurai house was incredible and we had a great time. I enjoyed having miso in different ways at the end too. Here in the house they also offer other Japanese traditional cultural experience too.....like tea ceremony, sake tasting etc. Highly recommend this class to everybody visiting Kyoto.

Response from the operator: Thank you for taking my miso making class. You made it very well. I hope you enjoy miso not only as miso soup but also in different ways. The Samurai house is located very useful place and I also love its historical atmosphere. Everyone can take photogenic pictures here. I recommend to take a lot of Japanese traditional cultural experience here.

A special experience in Kyoto

I participated in the Okara Miso Making Experience with my children. I didn't expect miso to be made so easily. Naomi she loves Okara and is very beautiful and friendly. I also enjoyed listening to stories about health. Samurai residences are particularly unique among the designs of old Japanese houses. There is a cute frog in the garden pond. It is an exciting experience to go up the hidden stairs like a ninja house. There is also a nice bar counter. You can also experience the tea ceremony here. It is very convenient in 10 minutes on foot from Kyoto Station. Thank you very much.

Response from the operator: momokyoto様 この度はおから味噌作り体験のご参加ありがとうございました。 Thank you for coming. Our making miso lesson is easy and safety so it is good experience for children. You also enjoyed the historical atmosphere of Samurai residence. I was happy to make it with your family. It was a good memory. Thank you.

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 44 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 4 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Kyoto, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Is 京都でアップサイクルされた大豆粕を使った味噌作り suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 6. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 1-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book

+

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kyoto can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kyoto and add a light layer if any part of the 1-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

What are the best things to do in Kyoto?

+

On Outty we rank every Kyoto experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Kyoto : Gion Make Your Own Chopsticks with Engraving Option, Award-Winning Authentic Ramen Making Experience in Kyoto, Hidden Kyoto E-Biking tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Kyoto?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Kyoto?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
