Worth the trip but the food/drink below needs to be price regulated as it's extortion down there
Pretty impressive feat of engineering. I recommend you skip the main tour - most of it is just explaining the religious symbolism of the stations of the cross that are in the tunnels that lead to the actual cathedral. I would save your energy and just walk past them and go straight to the big cathedral and museum spaces at the end of the tour - the sculpture museum itself is the best thing in my opinion, it's kind of nestled in among a bunch of shops and isn't part of the main tour. There's usually a line for the video room that has more interesting history than the tour itself- the history of the engineering and mining, which is very interesting. Be aware that prices in the stores/cafes down below are CRAZY EXPENSIVE. they really should regulate this as it is an absolute rip off - at least a 500% mark-up on stuff you can get at the surface.

Beautiful site, overpriced experience
The Salt Cathedral itself is amazing, but the value of the ticket does not make sense. I realized there are many other tours that offer food drinks and/or other site visits for much less money. We only received a small bottle of water, a ride to and from the Salt Cathedral, and the tickets. I would look for a better value in the future.

Great trip to the Zipaquira Salt Cathedral
I had a wonderful trip to the Zipaquira Salt Cathedral. My driver, Angel was so wonderful. Being a solo traveler, I am always leery about day tours but I had such a great time and I had no worries whatsoever.

Interesting Tour in Bogota's Historical District
Cristian was an excellent guide and took us around the historical area, not only showing us the street art but talking about the artist and the meaning behind their work. It gave a lot of context about how the art relates to the history of Colombia.

Zipaquira Salt Cathedral tour with private transportation: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Bogotá.
How much does Zipaquira Salt Cathedral tour with private transportation cost?
+
Prices start at $125 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Bogotá usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Zipaquira Salt Cathedral tour with private transportation take?
+
Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Bogotá is not rushed.
Is Zipaquira Salt Cathedral tour with private transportation worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 47 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 12 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Bogotá, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Zipaquira Salt Cathedral tour with private transportation?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Zipaquira Salt Cathedral tour with private transportation suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 3. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 5-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Zipaquira Salt Cathedral tour with private transportation?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Bogotá can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Bogotá and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Zipaquira Salt Cathedral tour with private transportation start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Bogotá within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Bogotá?
+
On Outty we rank every Bogotá experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Private City Tour Bogota + Monserrate, Gold, Botero and Candelaria., Free Graffiti Walking Tour Every Day in Bogota, Viejo Bogota Food Tour with 12+ Tastings. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Bogotá?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Bogotá?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
