Great trip with BnB Colombia Tours

Our visit to Zipaquira Salt Mine and Colonial town was part of a multi day private trip with BnB Colombia Tours. It is an outstanding company and our guide Juan Carlos Lagorio was an absolute delight. With excellent English and a great sense of humour, he was one of the best guides ever. He shared a lot of information and in between sights, we talked non-stop. The driver Giovanni was professional and a very good driver. We also shared a lot of jokes along the way. Zipaquira Salt Cathedral was impressive. The walk was easy and we were able to take a lot of photos. There are also a coffee shop and shops down in the mine, worth visiting. After the cathedral we went to Zipaquira town where we visited the plaza and beautiful church and afterwards we had lunch at Casa del Chorro. The food was excellent and we continued chatting until it was time to leave for Raquira. On the highway we encountered an accident and Giovanni had to take a detour which caused us to reach Raquira after dark. This pretty colourful town was I think even more beautiful with all the lights than during day time. Giovanni played some local music while we drove the hour to Villa de Leyva. All in all, a day to remember.

Response from the operator: Hola Hola, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience of your visit to Zipaquira Salt Mine and Colonial town. We are thrilled to hear that you had such a wonderful time with BnB Colombia Tours and that Juan Carlos Lagorio provided you with an exceptional guiding experience. We take great pride in our team, and it's heartening to know that Juan Carlos and Giovanni contributed to making your day memorable. It's fantastic to hear that you found the Zipaquira Salt Cathedral impressive and that the walk was enjoyable, allowing for plenty of photo opportunities. We're glad you were able to explore the coffee shop and shops within the mine as well. While encountering an accident on the highway might have caused a slight delay, we're glad Giovanni was able to navigate an alternative route, allowing you to reach Raquira safely. It sounds like the journey was made even more enjoyable with Giovanni's choice of local music, adding to the ambiance of the trip. Once again, thank you for choosing BnB Colombia Tours for your adventure. We're delighted to have been a part of your journey and hope to welcome you back for more unforgettable experiences in the future. Bruce

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Bogotá.

How much does Zipaquira Day Tour including the Salt Cathedral and Colonial Town cost?

+

Prices start at $171 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Bogotá usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Zipaquira Day Tour including the Salt Cathedral and Colonial Town take?

+

Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Bogotá is not rushed.

Is Zipaquira Day Tour including the Salt Cathedral and Colonial Town worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 54 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 2 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Bogotá, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Zipaquira Day Tour including the Salt Cathedral and Colonial Town?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Zipaquira Day Tour including the Salt Cathedral and Colonial Town suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 4. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 7-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Zipaquira Day Tour including the Salt Cathedral and Colonial Town?

+

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Bogotá can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Bogotá and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Zipaquira Day Tour including the Salt Cathedral and Colonial Town start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Bogotá within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Bogotá?

+

On Outty we rank every Bogotá experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Free Graffiti Walking Tour Every Day in Bogota, Shared Tour of the Historic Candelaria in Bogotá, Private City Tour Bogota + Monserrate, Gold, Botero and Candelaria.. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Bogotá?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Bogotá?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
