Quaint Holland
Allen was so knowledgeable and friendly during our tour. He shared his knowledge of the regional uniqueness at each stop and how to appreciate the Netherlands beyond Amsterdam. He also provided good recommendations for our other travel needs while in Amsterdam.

We picked a private tour...
We picked a private tour rather than bus because one of our party has arthritis. Alan went above and beyond for us to make this experience fantastic. We enjoyed it thoroughly and got out of it more than we had hoped. He adjusted the tour to suit limitations.

Best Experience in Amsterdam—Hands Down
This was, without question, the best experience we had in Amsterdam. Spending the day with Allen felt less like a tour and more like exploring with someone who truly knows and loves the area. Everything was customized and intentionally away from the crowds, which made it feel relaxed and personal from start to finish. Allen is not only incredibly knowledgeable, but also just a genuinely great person to talk to. Easygoing, engaging, and the kind of guide you wish you had everywhere you travel. Getting out to the tulip fields and actually walking through them was unforgettable. Being able to experience that up close, without the crowds, made it feel special in a way the typical tours just can’t match. If you’re coming to Amsterdam and don’t do this, you’re missing one of the best experiences available. I would book this again without hesitation.
Response from the operator: Thanks for the review James. Guests like you really make me enjoy what I do. Glad to hear that you had a good time and looking forward to see you sometime again in Amsterdam. :)

Great Day with Allen!
We had a great day with Allen. He was very knowledgeable and easy going. Took us to see the sites and also stopped so we could see the amazing tulip fields and take pictures. Definitely recommend this tour with Allen!
Response from the operator: thanks for the review Jodie. Glad to take you and your mom on this tour and get to experience the beautiful tulip fields. Looking forward to seeing you back in Amsterdam sometime :)

Best way to see many local places around Amsterdam with a small group
Perfect day! Allan drove us from place to place efficiently and was able to answer a variety of questions not only about the tour but also about the Netherlands in general. The tour stops were all great, and being on a private tour rather than a large bus tour was ideal. I also liked that the tour stops were carefully selected for a half-day experience focused on our interests rather than rushing to many different locations all day. Highly recommended!

Zaanse Schans, Volendam & Edam: Private tour (Max 3 per): questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Amsterdam.
How much does Zaanse Schans, Volendam & Edam: Private tour (Max 3 per) cost?
+
Prices start at $130 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Amsterdam usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Zaanse Schans, Volendam & Edam: Private tour (Max 3 per) take?
+
Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Amsterdam is not rushed.
Is Zaanse Schans, Volendam & Edam: Private tour (Max 3 per) worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 15 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Amsterdam, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Zaanse Schans, Volendam & Edam: Private tour (Max 3 per)?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Zaanse Schans, Volendam & Edam: Private tour (Max 3 per) suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Zaanse Schans, Volendam & Edam: Private tour (Max 3 per)?
+
Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Amsterdam can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Amsterdam and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Zaanse Schans, Volendam & Edam: Private tour (Max 3 per) start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Amsterdam within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Amsterdam?
+
On Outty we rank every Amsterdam experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Amsterdam Canal Cruise with Local Guide and Small Group, Guided Bike Tour of Amsterdam's Highlights & Hidden Gems, Amsterdam: Luxury Canal Cruise including Cocktails & Snacks. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Amsterdam?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Amsterdam?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
