Private wildlife tour worth every penny!
Our family of four (two young adult children) had a wonderful experience with Hayden Valley Tours. Charlie was our tour guide, and he was knowledgeable, friendly, warm and funny - he really made the whole experience fun for all of us. And, he was excellent at finding wildlife! We saw two grizzlies, one wolf, a coyote, two bald eagles, and multitudes of bison and deer. We all loved hearing Charlie's stories about the park and appreciated his intricate knowledge of the animals (especially all the details about the wolf packs and how they interact). He was skilled at asking us question to find out what was important to us, and designed his tour to meet our needs. I am so glad we chose to do a private tour. We never would have spotted most of these animals without Charlie's help. The tour was worth every penny. (And was also worth getting up and out at 5 am). And the lunch they provided was yummy! Highly recommend.

Highlight of our Yellowstone Vacation
Charlie was such an excellent guide! He was knowledgeable, friendly, and has an excellent sense of humor. My family, which includes a 12yr old and 7yr old, had a wonderful experience. The highlight of the trip was getting to see 3 wolves! Great communication, great experience!

Great Yellowstone touring company
Charlie was our tour guide. He was so knowledgeable, friendly and had a great sense of humor. He made our experience so enjoyable. He took us to see bear, bison, bull elks, wolves, and we even saw eagles (immature and an adult bald eagle). He found a rare duck - a Harlequin, and tiny American Pikas. We would never have found most of this wildlife on our own. I highly recommend using this company. They were so experienced and family friendly.

A tour guide that actually give a damn about the wildlife AND their customers!
What an AMAZING tour we had with Brian! We saw grizzly bears and WOLVES!!!! Brian asked what we wanted to see, and he delivered. I noticed a comment above from a KEVIN B -- well, I was at that same spot, watching the wolves and bear eat the carcass. What Kevin B doesn't tell everyone is that Kevin and his friends encroached on the wildlife, creating potential danger to the animals. The obvious love, respect, and advocacy for the animals within YNP were abundant throughout our tour, including this specific moment. I will continue to use Haydan Valley Nature Tours for all my trips to YNP and recommend them to anyone looking to tour the park, see wildlife, and know -- these guys actually give a damn!

Charlie was amazing!
We just got back from an amazing tour with Charlie McCurdy! This is his first season touring with the company but we couldn’t tell at all. He’s been coming to Yellowstone since he was a kid and that is what makes his tour so special. We truly enjoyed every minute, and were able to see grizzly and black bears, as well as elk, bison, osprey, sandhill crane. We also visited many of the famous attractions in the park and traveling around in the suburban together was easy. Charlie made it enjoyable because he was easy to talk to and honestly helped balance out our family of 4 that includes two teen boys. Charlie, has his own boys and knew just how to engage ours. Having Charlie brought a calm and friendly personality to the trip and was just what we needed! Overall I’d rate our experience as perfect. We told him what we wanted to see and he delivered all day long. The sack lunch provided was great and the binoculars and spotting scope were very helpful. Charlie even adapted his phone to the spotting scope to record videos of what we’re seeing and then shared them with us at the end of the trip. I highly recommend Hayden Valley Nature Tours when visiting Yellowstone you won’t be disappointed.

Why this scores 69
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Yellowstone PRIVATE Wildlife Safari with Lunch: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for West Yellowstone.
How much does Yellowstone PRIVATE Wildlife Safari with Lunch cost?
+
Prices start at $375 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in West Yellowstone usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Yellowstone PRIVATE Wildlife Safari with Lunch take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in West Yellowstone is not rushed.
Is Yellowstone PRIVATE Wildlife Safari with Lunch worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 10 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in West Yellowstone, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Yellowstone PRIVATE Wildlife Safari with Lunch?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Yellowstone PRIVATE Wildlife Safari with Lunch suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Yellowstone PRIVATE Wildlife Safari with Lunch?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in West Yellowstone can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in West Yellowstone and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Yellowstone PRIVATE Wildlife Safari with Lunch start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central West Yellowstone within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in West Yellowstone?
+
West Yellowstone is the busiest park gateway: guided Yellowstone loops to Old Faithful and Grand Prismatic, wildlife safaris at dawn, and snowcoach or snowmobile tours once roads close. On Outty we rank every West Yellowstone experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Yellowstone National Park - Full-Day Lower Loop Tour from West Yellowstone, Yellowstone Lower Loop Tour | Wildlife & Hot Springs | PRIVATE, Full Day Private Tour and Hike from West Yellowstone. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit West Yellowstone?
+
June to September for driving tours, December to March for snowcoach access. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in West Yellowstone?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
