Great fun!

What a wonderful way to experience Melbourne and the Yarra River. Mark and Laurie were great guides, and the bikes were stable and easy to use. It was very cool to watch the gas brigade show from the water. I would absolutely do this activity again the next time I'm in Melbourne.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for the 5-star review! We're glad you had such a great time on our Twilight Tour. It’s awesome to hear that you found the waterbikes stable and easy to navigate—we love that they make the Yarra accessible for everyone. We’d love to have you back on the water next time you’re in Melbourne.

A Magical Start to 2026 – Unforgettable Twilight Water Bike Tour on the Yarra!

What an incredible way to welcome the New Year! As the sun set on the first day of 2026, we embarked on our very first water bike twilight tour; a thoughtful Christmas gift from our daughter. From the moment we arrived, our wonderful guides, Laury and Mark, made us feel so welcome. After a friendly introduction, they talked us through the itinerary and safety instructions, and before we knew it, we were gliding down the Yarra River. The pace was perfect, relaxed and enjoyable, allowing us to soak in the magical atmosphere as Laury pointed out landmarks and shared fascinating stories about Melbourne’s history. There were four of us at the start, and we picked up three more as we headed toward Southbank, passing Rod Laver Arena and the city skyline shimmering in the evening light. The night was simply stunning: a gentle breeze, the soft glow of sunset over the river, and the sparkling city lights creating a picture-perfect backdrop. Halfway through, Mark joined us, and together we pedalled under Princes Bridge and along to the Ferris Wheel before returning to watch the Fire Show. The view from the water was absolutely spectacular! A truly unforgettable perspective of the show, and of the city! The 90 minutes flew by far too quickly. Pedalling was easy and comfortable, making it suitable for all ages and fitness levels. We were the eldest couple on the tour, with others in their twenties through forties, and everyone was clearly having a wonderful time. We absolutely loved every moment and can’t recommend this experience highly enough. If you’re looking for a unique, fun, and breathtaking way to see Melbourne, this twilight water bike tour is an absolute must! We will definitely be back for another tour when we return to Melbourne. FIVE STARS!!

Response from the operator: What a spectacular review! Thank you so much for sharing such a detailed account of your New Year’s Day adventure. We are touched that you chose to spend such a significant day with us, and what a thoughtful Christmas gift from your daughter! It’s also wonderful to hear that you found the waterbikes comfortable and accessible. We take great pride in ensuring our tours are enjoyable for all ages, so knowing that you felt at ease while gliding under Princes Bridge really warms our hearts.

Yarra River Twilight Waterbike Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Melbourne.

How much does Yarra River Twilight Waterbike Tour cost?

+

Prices start at $90 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Melbourne usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Yarra River Twilight Waterbike Tour take?

+

Plan for about 1.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Melbourne is not rushed.

Is Yarra River Twilight Waterbike Tour worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 54 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 3 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Melbourne, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Yarra River Twilight Waterbike Tour?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Yarra River Twilight Waterbike Tour suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 8. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 1.5-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Yarra River Twilight Waterbike Tour?

+

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Melbourne can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Melbourne and add a light layer if any part of the 1.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Yarra River Twilight Waterbike Tour start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Melbourne within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Melbourne?

+

On Outty we rank every Melbourne experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Melbourne: Yarra Valley Wine, Gin, Whisky and Chocolate Tour, Yarra Valley Wine Tour w Exclusive Gin, Cider & Chocolate Tasting, Yarra Valley Wine Tour from Melbourne - Choc, Gin & Good Times. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Melbourne?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Melbourne?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
