What you'll see and do

  1. The Blue Eye

What makes the Blue Eye so fascinating is that divers have attempted to descend into its turquoise waters to calculate its depth several times without succeeding. Thus, it remains a mystery how deep the Blue Eye is, but the deepest point the divers have reached is 50 m (164 ft) deep. Syri I Kalter (which is Albanian for “Blue Eye”) is a unique place that you should definitely add to your Albanian itinerary.

  3. Lekuresi Castle

Amidst stone ruins there often exists lurid tales of times long past. The Lëkurësi Castle in Albania is just one of those ruins. Also known as Kalaja e Lëkurësit in Albanian, this historical castle has an interesting history.Located on a steep hill that strategically overlooks the town of Saranda, the castle was built in 1537 by Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent, the longest-reigning Sultan of the Ottoman Empire. Suleiman was a powerful Sultan who, under his administration, ruled over at least 25 million people. During his monarchy, he led Ottoman armies in their attempts to conquer Christian strongholds throughout Europe. The building of the castle of Lëkurës on such a steep hill certainly would have been a strategic decision.

Highly recommend

From start to finish this was a great experience & highly recommend when in Sarande. Mario our tour guide was brilliant, really knowledgeable and friendly - he couldn’t do enough for us! It’s a must do and the Blue Eye, Kantina Winery and Lakuresi Castle (prepare for extreme busyness at sunset) was amazing. Thank you again Mario, when we’re back in your beautiful country again, we will most defiantly look to book another tour through you.

Beautiful day

We loved the tour overall, however, our guides switched the itinerary around so that we visited the winery first and for much longer than was originally scheduled so we spent less time at the Blue Eye than I thought. Also we got a new tour guide after the winery which was odd but he ended up being much more insightful and a wonderful addition!

Lici Tours - Wine Tasting Tour with Blue Eye and Lekursi Castle Sunset

Lici Tours organised an amazing half-day tour of the Blue Eye, local family winery and sunset from Lekursi castle. It was a great way to see the sights near Sarandë. The highlight was the stop at the local vineyard to try traditional Albanian wine and raki with cheese and olives. The guide was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area, timing the stops perfectly for the sunset view from the castle. This trip is a must-do in Sarandë for nature, local wine and great views!

Wine Tasting Tour with Blue Eye and Lekursi Castle Sunset: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Saranda.

How much does Wine Tasting Tour with Blue Eye and Lekursi Castle Sunset cost?

+

Prices start at $41 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Saranda usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Wine Tasting Tour with Blue Eye and Lekursi Castle Sunset take?

+

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Saranda is not rushed.

Is Wine Tasting Tour with Blue Eye and Lekursi Castle Sunset worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 72 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 24 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Saranda, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Wine Tasting Tour with Blue Eye and Lekursi Castle Sunset?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Wine Tasting Tour with Blue Eye and Lekursi Castle Sunset suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 26. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 4-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Wine Tasting Tour with Blue Eye and Lekursi Castle Sunset?

+

Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Saranda can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Saranda and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Wine Tasting Tour with Blue Eye and Lekursi Castle Sunset start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Saranda within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Saranda?

+

On Outty we rank every Saranda experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Sarandë: Small-Group Boat Tour with Swim Stops, Drinks & Parasols, Tour Gjirokaster,Blue Eye & Lekursi Castle, Saranda Boat Tour to Kakome,Hidden Cave and Beaches with Snorkell. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Saranda?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Saranda?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
