Upper Reach Winery Swan Valley W.A.

Upper Reach Winery is such a beautiful place to go and a beautiful experience. We have been buying Wines regularly for a few years now and they are always delicious. We have also done a couple of the Wine classes which were such fun and very interesting. The Restaurant serves above average food. And we have taken friends there also, and they loved the food. There is a beautiful outdoor Pizza area under a huge gumtree. For people who love to walk, there is a beautiful walk on the property, along the river We can’t recommend this beautiful Winery highly enough. If you’re in the Swan Valley it’s a must to try.

$1000 for a driver only

Laura charged as $100 +$50 an hour for her expertise. She was nowhere to be found. We pay $150 plus 20% gratuity an hour for essentially a driver. She made reservations for us and thats it. That's no knowledge sharing or nothing. You could get the same experience going to the wineries yourself. We are paying over $900 for a driver got 5 hours!

Response from the operator: Hi Lydia, Just to let you know that we do not offer guided tours around the Swan Valley, nor do we provide drivers and cars or make bookings at other wineries. I hope the rest of your stay in the Swan Valley was enjoyable. If you would like to discuss anything further, please call Cellar Door on 9296 0078.

A relaxed, enjoyable and informative wine appreciation course

We thoroughly enjoyed our morning doing the Wine 101 course with friends of ours. Stephen was a wonderful guide. He has great knowledge and was very informative, but was also relaxed and easy going, with a fun sense of humour. We enjoyed the tasting experience very much, and feel that the course helped deepen our understanding and appreciation of wine and how to pair it with food. Upper Reach have some great wines! We went on to enjoy a delicious lunch in the Upper reach restaurant, topped off with a terrific Tempranillo (highly recommend this!). A relaxed wander down to the Swan River and through the vineyards was a great way to end a delightful experience. Thanks to the warm and welcoming team in the wine tasting particularly. We will certainly be back!

Response from the operator: We are delighted that you had such a wonderful experience and thank you for taking the time to let us know. We look forward to you visiting Upper Reach again soon.

Wine 101

We really enjoyed our morning, taking part in the Wine Education 101 class, after a breakfast at the restaurant for a family group of 6. None of us are 'wine experts', apart from knowing what we like and what we don't, so Steven's approach of starting with some ordinary everyday tastes before moving onto wines themselves helped us feel comfortable with our lack of expertise. Then, as we moved on to the basics of tasting beyond 'sniff/swirl/sip', the small techniques as well as the prepared 'handouts' of a 'tasting wheel' to help identify flavours and a page for our own notes were really helpful, too. A really good morning, definitely 'value for money', no condescending 'wine conneisur' talk and some extra knowledge to take away with me. I must pay more attention to what I'm actually tasting now! Oh - and Upper Reach's wines are well worth tasting, too. Alan

Response from the operator: Thank you Alan for sharing your thoughts regarding the Wine 101 Class, we want people to feel relaxed and to enjoy the experience and Stephen is wonderful at achieving this. We look forward to seeing you all again soon.

Fun and informative

A fun and informative class! The guide was wonderful and engaging, and the experience was very relaxed while still learning a lot. Lots of tips and methods for tasting wine that will be helpful and easy to apply in everyday life. Really learned what we like in wine which will make it easier to buy well in the future!

Response from the operator: Wonderful, so happy you had a great time and learnt something along the way.

Wine 101- Wine Education Classes: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Perth.

How much does Wine 101- Wine Education Classes cost?

+

Prices start at $95 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Perth usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Wine 101- Wine Education Classes take?

+

Plan for about 1.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Perth is not rushed.

Is Wine 101- Wine Education Classes worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 45 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 10 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable food & drink in Perth, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Wine 101- Wine Education Classes?

+

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Wine 101- Wine Education Classes suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 18. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 1.5-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Wine 101- Wine Education Classes?

+

Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Perth can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Perth and add a light layer if any part of the 1.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Wine 101- Wine Education Classes start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Perth within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Perth?

+

On Outty we rank every Perth experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Optus Stadium Tour, Pinnacles Desert Sunset Dinner and Stargazing Tour, VIP Swan Valley Wine Tour - Premium Small Group Wine & Gourmet Experience. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Perth?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Perth?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
