About this experience
As we hike through the rainforest and along the Celeste River, you will observe one of nature's most beautiful phenomenons that can only be seen in a few places in the world; a freshwater river joins a volcanic-mineral river, creating an astounding shock of turquoise color in the water. After admiring the beautiful waterfall, which is one of Costa Rica's most unique hidden gems, we will continue the hike towards the Teñideros sector, where we will have an amazing view of the Tenorio Volcano & Cerro Montezuma. As we can't swim in the national park protected areas, we will take you to a local natural pool within the Celeste river where you will be able to swim in the turquoise waters. After our swim, we will visit a famous hidden gem locally called Arbol de la Paz, it's over 150ft tall "Ceiba Pentandra tree". A typical Costa Rican lunch will be waiting for us after; on our way back we have a surprise stop to admire some extra local fauna.

Sloths, snakes and beautiful waterfalls!
Playa Grande Tours is our go to when we visit Costa Rica. This was our 4th excursion with them and as usual, they were great. I actually connected with them weeks before our trip. They responded quickly and were very helpful. Ariel will help with whatever you want to do! For every trip, we have been fortunate enough to have Jose as our driver. He is always on time, very safe and wonderful with our college photographers. He works very hard to make certain our trips are perfect. Ariel can be reached at +506 8722 4778. It’s just an excellent experience.

It was great connecting with you before the trip and helping plan everything out—I’m always happy to assist in any way I can! I’ll be sure to pass along your kind words to Jose; he takes pride in making each trip safe, smooth, and enjoyable, and he always speaks highly of your group. We’re so glad your photographers had a great time again! Looking forward to the next adventure with you all. Thanks again for the trust and support! Pura vida, Ariel

Amazing Experience! Amazing Jose!
All I know is this was awesome and our guide Jose is amazing. This was our second tour with him. From stopping so we can get breakfast to helping us find a souvenir we needed to picking out a great lunch spot and great conversation. Plus, the watermelon and sugar can juice he got for us after the hike!! He is amazing! The hike was gorgeous to the falls, swimming in the blue river was amazing and refreshing then we got to go check out all the different wildlife to include a monkey, a Tucan a couple of crazy looking frogs and almost 10 different sloths!!! We had a great guide that Jose hooked us up with that could find the amazing creatures! We just had the greatest time thanks to Jose!!!! This was our second trip with Jose in a four day span. We didn't book the second one till after we hung out with Jose on the first one. We requested him for this one and Playa Grande was exceptionally flexible and accommodated our request and we can't thank them enough as well. These people made our vacation absolutely amazing!! Jose was good luck too because we had two amazing days with him!! Thanks Jose!!
Response from the operator: Hi Peter, Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience with us and for such kind words. We really appreciate it! We look forward to working with you again!

Three Tours.....5 STARS
We used PlayaGrande Shuttle & Tours for 3 of our tours while visiting Costa Rica. It was the BEST choice we made for our vacation. Without knowing much about Costa Rica they helped with suggestions of various activities and events that were catered to what we wanted. We have two kids (9 & 11) and all of the activities were safe, FUN, and each was better than the last. We zip lined, hiked, did a beach horseback ride, saw so much wildlife, and much more. When we come back we will DEFINATELY call upon PlayaGrande Shuttle & Tour for their services, advise, and experience. The local knowledge with our GREAT GUIDE and DRIVER (Jose) could not have been a better experience and we now consider him a friend. He picked us up at our VRBO on time, communicated in perfect English, and was an overall PLEASEURE to experience our trip. We immediately felt like he was a part of our family and just as excited to join us and lead us on the tours as if he were doing it for the first time (except he had all of the knowledge we needed). What a please to be!
Response from the operator: Hello Mike, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a 5-star review and for your kind words. It makes us happy to know that you had a good experience using our services. We loved the time shared with you and your beautiful family. We look forward to working with you again!

Costa Rica Natural Beauty at its Best!!
Omg!! This tour is a must!! You can't go back home without experiencing this!! You got to do this one!! This company is great but outstanding was their tour guy Jose!! You must ask for him since comparing him to others, he is by far THE BEST!! he is very knowledgeable, very patient and explained everything in detail. He was extremely personalized, he made us feel very well taken care of and truly had his heart in it to ensure we had the best experience. We did 5 different tours with this company and I asked for jose on every one. It was hard to be happy with a couple other tours we did with another company because he truly set the bar very high 😁. I am coming back soon and will definitely be using this company. We saw one of the largest waterfalls in the world, swam in blue water, got to see sloths 🦥 up close and a lot of beautiful insects in the rain forest. It was Amazing!
Response from the operator: Hello Thank you so much for your kind words. It was great to work with you. We look forward to seeing you again!

Great tour
We loved Rio Celeste. The hike was worth it! Our guide for this tour was Jeffry, he was great, very nice and funny. After the waterfall, we went swimming in the river and he took a bunch of pictures of us. The locals gave us oranges, coconut water, pineapple and other great snacks! After that Jeffry took us to see the sloths, which were adorable and one of them was very close to us and let us take great pictures of him. I recommend this tour and Jeffrey!
Response from the operator: Hey Fiorella Thank you for your review!! We enjoyed spending the day hiking and getting to know you guys. We look forward to having you back here in paradise!

How much does Wildlife Nature Hike, Blue Waterfall, Lunch & Sloth Trail - Tenorio Volcano Park cost?

How long does Wildlife Nature Hike, Blue Waterfall, Lunch & Sloth Trail - Tenorio Volcano Park take?
+
Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Playa Flamingo is not rushed.
Is Wildlife Nature Hike, Blue Waterfall, Lunch & Sloth Trail - Tenorio Volcano Park worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 71 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 14 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Playa Flamingo, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Wildlife Nature Hike, Blue Waterfall, Lunch & Sloth Trail - Tenorio Volcano Park?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Wildlife Nature Hike, Blue Waterfall, Lunch & Sloth Trail - Tenorio Volcano Park suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 6. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 7-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Wildlife Nature Hike, Blue Waterfall, Lunch & Sloth Trail - Tenorio Volcano Park?
+
Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Playa Flamingo can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Playa Flamingo and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Wildlife Nature Hike, Blue Waterfall, Lunch & Sloth Trail - Tenorio Volcano Park start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Playa Flamingo within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Playa Flamingo?
+
On Outty we rank every Playa Flamingo experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Flamingo, Guanacaste All Inclusive Catamaran Snorkel Adventure, Tropical Rainforest, Hanging Bridges And Jungle Sloths Sanctuary, Sunset Catamaran & Snorkeling Tour in Playa Flamingo. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Playa Flamingo?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Playa Flamingo?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
