Great experience
Such an easy trip - Greg our driver was great, he made sure we got on our tour and picked us up at the end so it was a very relaxed journey. The mine itself is stunning. Definitely worth going 😀

Amazing experience
We used this company yesterday to transport us to the Salt Mines. We were picked up from our agreed point in the city centre. Our driver was very helpful, informative, and communicative. The vehicle we travelled in was very clean, and we felt very comfortable and safe at all times. When we arrived at our destination, we were guided by our driver to the admissions office. We were given very clear instructions by him, where to go and what to expect. We arranged a collection time, and after our lovely tour, our driver was waiting for us. We were all dropped off at our designated destinations, out driver was very conscious of our safety while doing this. We will most definitely use this company on out next tour to lovely Krakow.

With Greg's guidance a must see
The Salt Mines were spectacular. Greg was great. Some other travelers voiced concern about the 850 steps required to get down in the mine. Greg explained that you go down incrementally, stopping to observe scenes depicting mine work, and that there was a lot of walking along shafts in-between stairs. And an elevator brought you back to the surface. Greg was punctual picking us up at our hotel, guiding us to the correct line for our English speaking tour and was right there when we returned to the car park.

Planning made so easy with Greg
Greg was very responsive and responsible. Communicated clearly before trip with meeting times, place and contact details. He is also quick in organizing last minute plans and changes. Very helpful and made our short time in Krakow very productive and pleasant. Would recommend him to anyone who plans to visit Krakow and looking for tours.

Wieliczka Salt Mine tour
‘Roy’ picked us up at 0800 for a visit to the Wieliczka Salt Mine. He was punctual, polite, friendly and a safe driver. I’ve been impressed by all the tours we’ve done with Viator - the Salt Mine, Auschwitz-Birkenau, Schindler’s factory and the Normandy beaches. We haven’t been let down once and all the tours have been of the highest quality in my view and conducted by reliable people. The Wieliczka Salt Mine requires walking down a lot of steps down to some 150m below the surface. The steps are well spaced and comfortable and there is a sturdy bannister to hang onto. However, this may not be great for the elderly (I’m 70) as one is expected to keep up with the group. An elevator takes you back up to the surface after your tour. Be advised that you are crammed in so those who get a little claustrophobic should consider this before booking although I would expect if you spoke to your guide about this beforehand they may be able to arrange a bit more space in your elevator. It only takes a minute or so to reach the surface.

Why this scores 55
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Wieliczka Salt Mine tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Krakow.
How much does Wieliczka Salt Mine tour cost?
+
Prices start at $300 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Krakow usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Wieliczka Salt Mine tour take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Krakow is not rushed.
Is Wieliczka Salt Mine tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 55 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 46 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Krakow, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Wieliczka Salt Mine tour?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Wieliczka Salt Mine tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Wieliczka Salt Mine tour?
+
Around 16 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Krakow can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Krakow and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Wieliczka Salt Mine tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Krakow within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Krakow?
+
On Outty we rank every Krakow experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Complete Cracow Bike Tour (small group of maximum 15 people!), Krakow–Zakopane: Cable Car, Chocholow Baths, Cheese & Vodka, Krakow: Zakopane & Hot Springs Tour with Cable Car (Hotel Pickup). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Krakow?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Krakow?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
