Wonderful, Friendly, Patient, and Knowledgeable Guide

Samar is an amazing, amazing guide. She is a wonderful, friendly person, and knowledgeable about Luxor, and Egypt. Above all, she is super helpful and flexible. She went above and beyond to make odur time in Luxor memorable. We were visiting as part of a tour we planned through Djed Travels. We were traveling with a toddler. Samar bonded wonderfully with her. So much that we were comfortable leaving our toddler with Samar while we visited the Temples, Tombs in Valley of the Kings. She took us to wonderful restaurants, stores, and local shops. Learning that we did not bring jackets for our Dahabiya Cruise, Samar took us to store, and helped us buy necessary clothings for the whole family so that we are well prepared for the cruis! She is patient, helpful, and kind. My toddler still remembers her name -- which is a testament to how well they bonded. We truly enjoyed our time in Luxor, and credit goes to Samar. We wish to visit Luxor again, and we would definitely want to have Samar as our guide each time. Thank you Samar!

Egypt Ruins Experience Guides make the tour

We booked a multi day tour with Djed Tours and had a fantastic time. The temples and tombs were mind bending, such grand projects completed so long ago. The tours were made complete by the super knowledgeable guides, Essam, Samar, and Abdullah. They enriched our tour with interpretation of the ruins that we could not have achieved on our own. They had tickets and efficient negotiation of the site to streamline our experience and maximize the content. We gained so much more from their knowledge and experience.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much Jim for your amazing review, I truly appreciate it a lot.

    Samar is a great guide.

Samar was a fabulous tour guide. In Madinet Habu a couple randomly stopped us after overhearing her talk to us to ask for her contact info because they wanted her for a guide too! She did three days with us: east and west bank of Luxor and Dendera and even took us to fruit stands, falafel stands, and a restaurant when we asked. We would not have learned or seen nearly as much without her expertise and she answered our many questions. I would recommend her for anyone.

    Exploring Luxor West Bank

I was lucky enough to meet Samar in Luxor, Egypt, one magical day in November 2020. The happy discovery was that she is a tour guide par excellence. I was touring the Valley of the Kings with a word-of-mouth recommended guide - typical deal - his English hard to understand, get a sense of per-recorded hackney spiel repeated by rote. Then my ear caught the sound of practically perfect English with a very engaging, personalized elucidations given to a couple of visitors about this breath-taking ancient Egyptian archeological site. I had to approach. Got Samar's contact and hired her for the remainder of the Luxor stay - two days. Made a whole world of difference. Besides transporting me into the time of the Ramses II, among other pharaohs, with storytelling, we ventured into historical context of what might've caused the rise and fall of this awe inspiring ancient Egyptian culture. Samar gave insights, we explored choices of the time, we got into lost-in-translation moments and we laughed a lot. She arranged for me to visit some local artisans atelier, who work in alabaster and lime stone, through personal contacts. Amazing. Bought artwork direct. I couldn't recommend more Samar to be your guide of choice in unavailing to you the beauty ancient Egypt and the modern.

Response from the operator: It was a great pleasure for me Albert to meet be and to be your guide . I enjoyed it a lot really .it was great to meet you and get to know how a nice person you are . Hopefully we will meet again one day.

West bank tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Luxor.

How much does West bank tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $5 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Luxor usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does West bank tour take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Luxor is not rushed.

Is West bank tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 71 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Luxor, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule West bank tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is West bank tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book West bank tour?

    +

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Luxor can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Luxor and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does West bank tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Luxor within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Luxor?

    +

On Outty we rank every Luxor experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Private Half Day Luxor Tour Valley of Kings & Queens, Hatshepsut, Full Day Tour to East and West Banks of Luxor (Private), Private Half day Tour to West bank. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Luxor?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Luxor?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
