These magnificent colossi, each cut from a single block of stone and weighing 1000 tonnes, sat at the eastern entrance to the funerary temple of Amenophis III, the largest on the west bank. Egyptologists are currently excavating the temple and their discoveries can be seen behind the colossi.

    Exceeds Expectations

    We visited all of the important temples around Luxor area with this trip. We actuall wanted a more personalized experience and added Abydos Temples to this as well. Tour Egypt Club was very flexible and they provided us an amazing schedule. Our guide was also very experienced and knowledgeable. All of our questions were answered and we felt safe. All vehicles were new and air conditioned. This tour exceeded our expectations.
