Tour and creative work combo
It was an interesting tour, a lot to look at and try out, we are glad we added on a combo at the end (where you create your own model.) the guides and person taking the model making were all very good at their jobs
Response from the operator: Kia ora, Thank you for your review! We’re so pleased to hear you found the tour interesting and enjoyed having plenty to explore and try out. It’s great to know the combo workshop at the end added to your experience and that creating your own model was a highlight. We’re glad the guides and workshop facilitator helped make it such a positive visit. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. Ngā mihi nui, Wētā Workshop Reservations Team

Creative and Inspiring Workshop Experience
This was my second time at the awe‑inspiring Weta Workshop. I had joined the tour previously, and this time I tried the craft workshop. The instructor was very encouraging—she kept motivating us to explore unique designs and was supportive of the ideas we came up with. She shared different creative possibilities, showing how simple materials like cardboard, seaweed, and stones could be transformed into imaginative concepts, such as a model of a house. I really enjoyed the session. The only downside was that I wished it had been longer, because it was such a fun and inspiring experience. Overall, it’s one of the best creative workshops I’ve attended.
Response from the operator: Kia ora, Thank you for your thoughtful review! We’re so pleased to hear you returned for another visit and enjoyed trying the craft workshop this time. It’s wonderful to know the facilitator’s encouraging approach helped inspire creativity and explore new ideas using everyday materials. We appreciate your feedback about wishing the session were longer, it’s great to hear how engaging and enjoyable you found the experience. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. This Is a Must-Do experience!
Wow, Wow, Wow. This was a fantastic experience. I do not consider myself artistic in the least, but I ended up creating a work of art that I was extremely pleased with. We started with nothing but a cardboard rectangle, some tin foil and paint...and after 90min, I'd made a model that I was extremely pleased with! The staff person who ran the workshop was outstanding. This trip was one of the highlights of our (family of 3, all adults) 2 week trip to New Zealand.
Response from the operator: Kia ora, Thank you for your amazing review! We’re absolutely thrilled to hear you and your family had such a fantastic time in the workshop — and that you discovered your inner artist along the way! It’s wonderful to know how proud you were of your creation and that our team helped make the experience fun, inspiring, and memorable. We’re honoured to have been a highlight of your New Zealand trip and hope to welcome you back again one day! Ngā mihi nui, Wētā Workshop Reservations Team

Deja was lovely - more resources
Lovely guide very friendly. Some of the resources were less than ideal. Would’ve been nice to have some masking tape and perhaps some superglue or similar.
Response from the operator: Kia ora, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re glad to hear you found your guide friendly and welcoming, and we really appreciate your suggestions about the materials used during the session. Your comments about adding masking tape or superglue are very helpful, we’ll be sure to pass them on to our team as we continue refining our experience. Thank you again for joining us and for helping us improve the experience. Ngā mihi nui, Wētā Workshop Reservations Team

Why this scores 60
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Wētā Workshop Unleashed - Intro to Worldbuilding: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Auckland.
How much does Wētā Workshop Unleashed - Intro to Worldbuilding cost?
+
Prices start at $36 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Auckland usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Wētā Workshop Unleashed - Intro to Worldbuilding take?
+
Plan for about 1.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Auckland is not rushed.
Is Wētā Workshop Unleashed - Intro to Worldbuilding worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4/5 across 10 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Auckland, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Wētā Workshop Unleashed - Intro to Worldbuilding?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Wētā Workshop Unleashed - Intro to Worldbuilding suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Wētā Workshop Unleashed - Intro to Worldbuilding?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Auckland can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Auckland and add a light layer if any part of the 1.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Wētā Workshop Unleashed - Intro to Worldbuilding start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Auckland within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Auckland?
+
On Outty we rank every Auckland experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Hobbiton & Waitomo Caves Guided Day Trip from Auckland incl lunch, Hobbiton Movie Set Small Group Tour with Cheeky Kiwi Travel, Hobbiton & Waitomo Glowworm Caves Tour with Lunch from Auckland. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Auckland?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Auckland?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
