About this experience
This experience is designed to help the increasing number of people visiting Ubud for self care and healing. Try two different practices at two very special locations in the Ubud area. First visit Gunung Kawi Temple, another of Bali’s wonders. The energy here is very calm early morning. Be guided around the temple areas and finish with meditation inside one of the ancient caves that was originally a 9th century monastery. You must enter this area barefoot. Continue to Tirta Empul Holy Spring Temple for melukat water purification. The Balinese believe water is a very important element as the human body is made of 70% water. Melukat comes from the Balinese word lukat which means to clean and purify. So we cleanse and purify the body with the holy spring water, while invigorating the mind and soul. Pent up anger and emotion is let loose so that the mind can release negative energy and move forward.

In English the process is called water purification. This is the most powerful temple in Bali for water purification as the natural spring water is so close to the bathing area. Your guide will assist with the complete process whilst also explaining the history of Tirta Empul Holy Spring Temple. We follow the authentic Balinese Water Purifaction process, not shortened or modified for tourists.

An absolutely magical morning spent meditating in ancient caves with Ubud Traveler!
A friend recommended cave meditation with Ubud Traveler to me, saying it was a very private, personal and meaningful experience. I can confirm it was all of the above, and more! Darma led the session and was a great guide: patient, knowledgable, and he even set-up comfortable cushions for us in the cave so we could meditate in complete comfort. So considerate, and really appreciated! The meditation experience was incredibly unique, relaxed, and self-paced too, with plenty of time at the end of the guided session to extend my practice by however long I wanted which I really loved. Ubud Traveler also offer an add-on service of a photographer to accompany you on your tour if you would like some professional snaps to commemorate your magical experience, which is a really cool option to have and one that I have never seen offered before. Thank you Darma and thank you Ubud Traveler for a wonderful morning spent together - I recommend this experience 100%!
Response from the operator: Dear Alice, Thank you for such a wonderful and detailed review. We are delighted you enjoyed the Trilogy of Traditional Balinese Healing Experiences at Gunung Kawi Temple. Darma will be very pleased to hear your kind comments. Creating a private, personal and meaningful experience is exactly what we aim to achieve, and the peaceful cave setting allows guests to meditate at their own pace and fully immerse themselves in the experience. We are also glad you enjoyed the optional photography service. These healing experiences are often very special and memorable, so it is nice for guests to have professional photographs to look back on. Thank you for recommending the experience so highly. It was a pleasure sharing this unique part of Balinese culture with you. Kind Regards, Darma and the Ubud Traveler Team

Great experience with a terrific guide
Darma was an incredibly knowledgeable and kind guide. It was a privilege to spend half a day with him. He took me to a cave, taught me how to meditate, shared his life story and supported me to do the purification ritual. It was a wonderful experience, and it had so much more meaning than an organized tour.
Response from the operator: Dear Rachel, Thank you for sharing your appreciation for Darma and this uniquely Balinese experience, exclusive to Ubud Traveler. Having a private and personal tour is especially important for the water purification ritual and cave meditation experience, allowing guests to move at their own pace and seek additional guidance whenever they wish, without feeling rushed or uncomfortable. It is always a magical morning focused on healing, self care, and personal growth. We are happy to hear that this special experience resonated with you. Kind regards, Darma and The Ubud Traveler Team

Why this scores 57

Water Purification & Cave Meditation 2 Authentic Bali Experiences: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Ubud.
How much does Water Purification & Cave Meditation 2 Authentic Bali Experiences cost?
+
Prices start at $90 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Ubud usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Water Purification & Cave Meditation 2 Authentic Bali Experiences take?
+
Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Ubud is not rushed.
Is Water Purification & Cave Meditation 2 Authentic Bali Experiences worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 57 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 2 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Ubud, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Water Purification & Cave Meditation 2 Authentic Bali Experiences?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Water Purification & Cave Meditation 2 Authentic Bali Experiences suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 14. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 5-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Water Purification & Cave Meditation 2 Authentic Bali Experiences?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Ubud can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Ubud and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Water Purification & Cave Meditation 2 Authentic Bali Experiences start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Ubud within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Ubud?
+
On Outty we rank every Ubud experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Mount Batur Jeep Adventure, Best of Ubud Full-Day Tour with Jungle Swing, Full-Day Tour to Water Temples and UNESCO Rice Terraces in Bali. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Ubud?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Ubud?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
