Two palms walk
Great informative tour about the history of Palm Springs and architecture and design as well as a little about the Hollywood scene. Doug was great host! Would definitely recommend!!!
Response from the operator: Thank you. Your group was fun as we strolled Twin Palms Estates and I felt like we all had a good connection. After our tour, maybe you were able to follow my tips and drive-by more interesting homes. Hope to see you again out-n-about here in the desert!

A Jewel In the Desert!
What a great way to spend a sunny morning! My husband, teenage son and I thoroughly enjoyed our time with Doug walking the streets of one of Palm Springs original and most iconic neighborhoods! We met on the street corner behind the hotel (now a condominium) that was the home base for the Twin Palms development and for the next two hours were immersed in a fascinating tour that incorporated architecture, economics, literature, conservation and popular culture through the lens of the history of Palm Springs, in particular through the vision of Bob Alexander and William Krisel. The vision of these former schoolmates and professional partners is nurtured today by residents of this Palm Springs neighborhood and across the city and is brought alive by Doug’s commentary as you stroll the sundappled streets of architectural jewels. Doug is the ultimate host, from the moment he reached out to confirm our reservations and understand more about our group to customize the tour, to his recommendations for lunch after we concluded our pleasant two hour stroll. If you are at all interested in architecture, landscape design, or history, you are in for a treat with this tour. Thank you, Doug, for being a memorable contributor to our first visit to Palm Springs!
Response from the operator: Thank you! I had a ball with you, your husband and your smart, almost-graduated high schooler because all of you were so engaged and curious, especially your son. In fact, I was startled not only when he was aware of famous Twin Palms resident Ray Bradbury, but had also read Bradbury's books. Wonderful! I'm glad you enjoyed a nice post-tour lunch and I'm sure your trip to the high desert for that night's starry night sky show was spectacular. Sounds like your first visit to Palm Springs was a hit. Thanks again.

Why this scores 67
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Walking Palm Springs "Twin Palms" Private Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Palm Springs.
How much does Walking Palm Springs "Twin Palms" Private Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $195 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Palm Springs usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Walking Palm Springs "Twin Palms" Private Tour take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Palm Springs is not rushed.
Is Walking Palm Springs "Twin Palms" Private Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 67 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 23 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Palm Springs, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Walking Palm Springs "Twin Palms" Private Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Walking Palm Springs "Twin Palms" Private Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Walking Palm Springs "Twin Palms" Private Tour?
+
Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Palm Springs can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Palm Springs and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Walking Palm Springs "Twin Palms" Private Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Palm Springs within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Palm Springs?
+
Palm Springs sells architecture tours through midcentury neighbourhoods, Aerial Tramway trips up San Jacinto, Indian Canyons hikes, Joshua Tree stargazing and windmill farm runs. Shade, water and pickup points separate a good desert tour from a rough one. On Outty we rank every Palm Springs experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Bank Heist Escape Room Game for Private Group, Palm Springs Modernism Architecture & History Bike Tour, Vampire's Lair Escape Room Game for Private Group. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Palm Springs?
+
November to April. Book dawn or evening slots in summer. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Palm Springs?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
