Dole Plantation
In 1899, James Dole, just 22 years old, moved to Honolulu from Massachusetts and purchased 64 acres of land in the central plains of Oahu. After trying several experimental crops, he settled on pineapple. This was the beginning of the pineapple empire. Dole created two canneries in Wahiawa and Honolulu Harbor and started advertising, resulting in nationwide consumer popularity. After bringing in automatic pineapple peelers, business boomed even greater. In 1950, a small fruit stand was created in Dole’s fields. A plantation-style home was erected in 1989 and turned into an archive and living museum, honoring the work and life of James Dole. This majestic King Kamehameha I statue that stands proudly out the front of Ali’iolane Hale in Downtown Honolulu, is a casting of one of Hawaii's most beloved and revered rulers Kamehameha the Great, who was the first to unify all the islands and welcome westerners to his lands. Kamehameha was a revered warrior and leader, and he united Hawaii into one royal kingdom in 1810 after years of conflict. He also encouraged foreign trade and technology while avoiding foreign rule. He is depicted in the 18-foot bronze statue as extending his hand in a welcoming gesture of aloha. King Kamehameha commissioned the construction of Ali’iolani Hale to be the royal palace of the Hawaiian Monarchy. It was built in the Italian Renaissance Revival style and its name means ‘House of the heavenly King’. Ali’iolani Hale eventually became an administrative building and now houses the Supreme Court of Hawaii as well as the Judiciary History Center. The 18-foot bronze King Kamehameha Statue.

Amaze, amaze, amaze!
What can we say about Captain Vince and this tour? He is simply the best on Oahu. Knowledgeable, punctual, engaging, and genuinely fun all at once, Captain Vince turned our day into an unforgettable experience. Our family learned so much about the island in just one day, and he expertly guided us to the best photo spots as well as the most popular local food places. We give Captain Vince two big thumbs way up! Mahalo nui loa!

My daughters and I had a really great experience! Captain Vince is extremely nice and friendly. He gave a lot of information about the island. We definitely came home and learned new things. I definitely recommend to book a tour with him!

A Beautiful Day with Captain Vince
My fiancé and I had the most incredible day with Captain Vince. There was only us and another person, so it felt very intimate and special. The bus was well air-conditioned and the ride was smooth throughout the entire day. Everywhere we went was so beautiful, especially Waimea Valley where we swam in a gorgeous waterfall. We also ate some delicious food, from Leonard’s malasadas to Liliha Bakery. But what sets this tour apart is Captain Vince. He is funny, knowledgeable, and goes out of his way to accommodate his clients and provide the best experience possible. He has a truly beautiful soul, and we’re so lucky to have crossed paths with him during our trip to Oahu. If you are thinking about doing an island tour, this is the one. You won’t regret it!

Waimea Botanical Garden and Waterfall and Kualoa Ranch: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Oahu.
How much does Waimea Botanical Garden and Waterfall and Kualoa Ranch cost?
+
Prices start at $154 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Oahu usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Waimea Botanical Garden and Waterfall and Kualoa Ranch take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Oahu is not rushed.
Is Waimea Botanical Garden and Waterfall and Kualoa Ranch worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 83 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 313 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Oahu, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Waimea Botanical Garden and Waterfall and Kualoa Ranch?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Waimea Botanical Garden and Waterfall and Kualoa Ranch suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Waimea Botanical Garden and Waterfall and Kualoa Ranch?
+
Around 110 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Oahu can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Oahu and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Waimea Botanical Garden and Waterfall and Kualoa Ranch start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Oahu within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Oahu?
+
On Outty we rank every Oahu experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Oahu: Full or Half Day Grand Circle Island Tour, Pearl Harbor Remembered Tour, Oahu Majestic Circle Island Tour with Waimea Falls and Byodo Inn. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Oahu?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Oahu?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
