Total Ripoff if you are a couple
Rom, the tour guide, owns this business. Sent me a nasty email after I left an honest review so updating here with new info. We did the Wonders of volcanoes National Park tour… you are basically paying $375/hr for ROM or his wife to drive you around for a day. If you don’t have a car then think about it but compare it to other options. The only costs are gas - $100, food and park fee of $30. So if you read this and still want to pay 3k to not have to drive, by all means. He told us his wife was a chef…. The food is disgusting for what you’re paying and it made me sick. 5yr olds get packed lunch on field trips that’s better. The insult comes as he described his wife as a chef on the tour. It’s his company, all the money you paid goes to him and he drives you in a hybrid so there’s virtually no cost to them. I didn’t know he owned it until he sent me the email in response to my review…. My wife and I thinking he was just a tour guide felt sorry for him after a number of stories about his immigration from Venezuela and gave him a hefty tip… he took it and said nothing. Save your money, rent a car, plan your own tour and eat good food. I will never book with these people again. If you have a big fam and this is cost effective then as an actual tour guide he was pretty good, kind, knowledgeable, accommodating. Just don’t expect anything beyond a ride to see some rocks.

Unforgettable experience
Rom from Nomad tours was incredible! So knowledgeable, he shared interesting facts related to the trip during our long drive from Kona. He went above and beyond to make our tour the highlight of the trip. By sheer luck, the volcano was erupting the day we had planned to tour the Volcano National Park but despite our best efforts, the park closed literally as we arrived… Rom was kind enough to schedule another day to take us out and finish the tour. Truly unforgettable and we were so appreciative! Worth every cent, if you are on the fence about whether it’s worth the money, book now!

One of a kind experience in Hawaii
We were a family of 5 and this tour was curated just for us! Rom is incredibly knowledgeable in all things Hawaii. He was informative, always attentive to our questions and needs and made everyone feel comfortable. The views were breathtaking. At sunset we went stargazing and his astrophotography expertise was a hit with everyone. We were able to catch amazing pictures! If you want to avoid the crowds and have a custom made tour, Nomad Tours is the place to go!

Do yourself a favor and don't miss this tour. The volcano has a full energy that connects with your soul. A friend of ours recommended Nomad Tour, and it was a great decision. Even more, having our tour guide, Rom, make our visit even better.

A Perfect Day on the Big Island – Mahalo Rom!
Our Hilo excursion with Nomad Tours was truly the highlight of our trip to Hawaiʻi! From the lush rainforest at Akaka Falls to the dramatic landscapes of Volcanoes National Park, every moment was unforgettable. The views were breathtaking, especially the steam vents and lava tube—like stepping into another world! The stop at Punaluʻu Black Sand Beach was magical—we even saw sea turtles resting on the shore. And the short visit to Rainbow Falls was a great surprise! What made the day extra special was our guide, Rom. He was incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and passionateabout Hawaiian history and culture. Rom shared beautiful stories about Pele and the island’s volcanic origins, answered every question with care, and made sure everyone felt comfortable and engaged. His warmth and attention to detail made this small-group tour feel truly personal. If you're visiting the Big Island, we can’t recommend Nomad Tours and Rom enough. 5 stars all the way—mahalo for an amazing experience!
