Mini Adams Peak
Our second hike in Ella was to Little Adam`s Peak, which we did in between the two longer ones. We did this trip without a guide. It is a fairly easy hike and the path is marked by signs so it`s easy to find, and very popular among tourists! So expect to meet many other people from all over the world on this trip! On the two other more remote trips we did in Ella, we hardly met anybody, just some locals now and then. The Little Adam`s Peak got it`s named after it`s big brother, the holy mountain Adam`s Peak, because of the similar shape. Adam`s Peak is further west in Sri Lanka, close to Nuwara Eliya, and is 2243 m high and a much more exhausting and more challenging climb! The mountain has however three names; Adam`s Peak (this is where Adam first set foot on earth after being cast out of heaven), Sri Pada (Buddha`s footprint left by the Buddha as he headed towards paradise) and Samanalakande (Butterfly mountain, where butterflies go to die). We had plans of climbing Big Adam`s Peak

It is a great activity that can be shared with others like grandchildren, with friends in a club as a social activity, or even alone. Touring the idyllic town of Ella would be incomplete if one misses out on experiencing the wonder of Ravana Falls. Renowned for being one of Sri Lanka’s widest waterfalls, this 82 ft. the cascading body of water is nestled within the Ravana Ella Wildlife Sanctuary and a further six km from the Ella Railway Station. While providing outstanding opportunities for a leisurely swim, adventure seekers will also find that climbing some of the rocks located nearby affords awe-inspiring vistas of both the falls as well as some of Ella’s treasured surroundings.

Rakkiththakanda Temple also named as Kande Viharaya is located in Karandagolla. It is a rock temple containing five caves as well as a cave tunnel. A miniature dagaba can be found inside one of the caves, which also contains murals and statues. Curiously two of the wall paintings are not Buddhist paintings – one of a horseman, and the other is a British Royal painting.

Upper Diyaluma Waterfall
There are several ways to do this hike and several starting points. First I will tell you how I did it and then give you an alternative. Our driver dropped us at Makaldenya Junction on Poonagala Road, which is actually way above the Diyaluma Falls. From here we trekked down the hill arriving at Diyaluma Upper falls after about 30 minutes. From there Diyaluma Falls is a 10-minute walk. To get down we continued down the hill towards Koslanda village, visiting the small, local rubber factory on our way down. The alternative route is to begin at Koslanda village and hike up to the top of Diyaluma Falls, check it out, and then continue to Upper Diyaluma Falls before returning the same way you came.

Tours around Sri Lanka
Aruna is a nice driver and very competent. He organized many tours for us and we enjoyed it. His drivers are just in time und reliable. Next time we will book again over that agency. Thank you, Aruna.

Great and flexible transfers through Sri Lanka
I took my family on a tour of Sri Lanka and then always wanted to arrange transport there. You get enough offers from the Tuktuk drivers. But right away the first one messed with us so we were recommended about our hotel host Aruna. He drove us spontaneously from Ella to udawala and then also organized the 6 other transports via his drivers. It has always worked out to our satisfaction at very short notice. If I traveled again, I would trust Aruna as a mediator again. Thanks again!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for trusting me and joining me on your journey and I appreciate your valuable comments. See you again one day. Wish you a good future. thank you❤️🙏😊❤️

Fantastic Ella and surrounds tour
My family and I tour Ella and the surrounding Hill country with Aruna for 2 days. Aruna was very knowledgeable about the area. He helped us put together an itinerary that covered all the must do sights and some lesser known sites (that were excellent). Aruna showed plenty of patience with us. He is a very safe driver and speaks English very well. He was also able to arrange ongoing transport to other destinations at a good price. I highly recommend using Ella S.L.A.D tours.
Response from the operator: Thank you very much for writing your valuable comments. And thank you for joining us on your journey.❤️❤️🙏🙏

Splendid but avoid taking a guide and the tourist scam restaurants downstairs!
We visited the diyluma falls, they are kagnogusues you can swim there the water was really good. Entrance costs 350 rupees per person. On the other hand NO NEED FOR GUIDE at $15 or even $1 follow the path impossible to go wrong even if the guide will tell you that it is the jungle impossible to get lost. Avoid stopping at the 2 restaurants downstairs, it's the same family scamming as the guide. 5600 rupees for a plate of pasta with vegetables, a bowl of mini salad, a bottle of water!!!! I had to negotiate to pay less than 3000 and it was still too much, the only tourist trap place in Sri Lanka but just avoid stopping and enjoy a swim.
Response from the operator: Mrs. I am only providing transportation facilities. But what you have written is causing my business to collapse. I have done you no wrong. Write what you have written on the restaurant's account. This is something you typed incorrectly. I don't know this event. Please remove what you wrote on this My Account. This is a very kind request of you. Other people write on my account only good because I give my best service with responsibility. You understand this and remove this. I am sorry for what has happened to you. thank you.🙏😢

Why this scores 62
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Visit Around Ella with diyaluma falls: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Ella.
How much does Visit Around Ella with diyaluma falls cost?
+
Prices start at $95 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Ella usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Visit Around Ella with diyaluma falls take?
+
Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Ella is not rushed.
Is Visit Around Ella with diyaluma falls worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 62 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Ella, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Visit Around Ella with diyaluma falls?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Visit Around Ella with diyaluma falls suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Visit Around Ella with diyaluma falls?
+
Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Ella can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Ella and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Visit Around Ella with diyaluma falls start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Ella within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Ella?
+
On Outty we rank every Ella experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Halpewatte Tea Factory Tour in Ella Sri Lanka, Halpewatte Tea Plantation Tour in Ella, Sri Lanka, Discover Ella - Ella Rock, Little Adam's Peak & Nine Arch Bridge. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Ella?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Ella?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
