Namesti Miru
Náměstí Míru (Peace Square; named so since 1948) is the main square of Vinohrady district, formerly a town. Riegrovy sady
Riegrovy sady is a vast park that emerged as a city park together with the entire Vinohrady district at the beginning of the 20th century. From its beginnings, it became a popular promenade for the upper middle class settled in Vinohrady. Today, you can find people exercising on the lawns, groups sitting on benches or blankets, musicians performing for passers-by, and locals walking their dogs. A wide view over the city draws people here to watch the sunset. In summer, the park hosts a large and lively beer garden.

Čapek Brothers Gardens is a small green space in the quiet heart of Vinohrady. It is named after the brothers Karel Čapek and Josef Čapek, influential Czech intellectuals of the early 20th century. Though hidden from the city’s bustle, the park is flanked by a number of architecturally interesting buildings. It marks the beginning of the villa quarter of Vinohrady, with nearby villas built for prominent figures of the early 20th century, notable for both their architecture and the stories of their owners. Nearby stand the Hussite Church (Congregational House) in the Constructivist style and the former Vinohrady Water Tower, another example of civic architecture closely connected with the development of Prague in the late 19th century.

Havlicek Park
Grébovka, also known as Havlíček park, is a spacious park laid out on the slopes descending toward the Botič stream. It was created as a romantic countryside park around the villa of the industrialist Moritz Gröbe. The park still contains a vineyard reflecting the area’s historical name, Vinohrady (“vineyards”), with its own wine production, as well as characteristic features of a romantic park such as a grotto, a lake, and a waterfall. Today, it remains one of the most popular parks among Prague residents.

A different side of Prague
Our group of 3 were actually the only ones on the tour, so it felt easy and conversational. This side of Prague — not the old town, a lively and beautiful district — was quite worth exploring. The stories our guide told gave some real character to the dry notion of "Eastern Europe."

Nice Vinohrady , but not recommended guide
Since we 4 were the only guests, we actually had a "private tour" of the beautiful Vinohrady. The guide was on time, did not introduce himself and immediately left. He went ahead, mostly speaking in the direction of running instead of towards his guests and we also had a linguistic difficulty understanding something. Actually, we were hoping for explanations about the Belle Epoque in Prague. The guide Vadim (I had learned the name from his own homepage after the tour). was approached several times by us to explain something about particularly beautiful buildings, in my opinion his knowledge on the subject was very manageable and the explanations very concise. At least twice on the tour he tried to find the direction of the tour with his mobile phone. We've seen a lot, but we've learned little. We could have done that with Google, too, too bad about the money........
Response from the operator: Hello Michael, Thank you for the review. I'm sorry the tour didn't meet your expectations, and I'd like to explain the mismatch. My tours are conversational rather than scripted — I don't deliver a prepared lecture, but adjust to what the group is curious about. I did cover the architecture, the styles, the history — Hussites, Jiří z Poděbrad, Karel Čapek, the atmosphere of the neighbourhood. But when questions came, they were about real estate and the language situation, so I followed those too. On the introductions — we did make them, at my suggestion. On the pace — my usual tour pace can be energetic, but this time I was walking at a moderate pace, adjusting to the group. With a group split between those walking alongside me and those dropping back, it was genuinely difficult to keep everyone in the conversation at the same time — that's something I'll handle differently in future. On the phone — I occasionally check the route to make sure we stay on time and don't miss anything; I don't think that's something to hide. The "saw a lot, learned little" conclusion is the one that stays with me. The neighbourhood has a lot to offer and I clearly didn't deliver that for you. I'll take that seriously. I hope your time in Prague was good overall. Vadim

Original and fulfilling
First, I ordered just a standard historical walking tour of Prague with Vadim. But he earned my trust fast, and I made another 2 with him - one in Prague, the Vinohrady walk, and another one outside Prague which he organized and crafted according to my wishes. I should say that he has knowledge of terrain and history, and with him you'll see things you'll never find yourself and even things from the guidebooks, like Charles Bridge or Astronomical Clock, you'll see them differently. You know, I had some vague recollection of images of Czech castles which I saw in a calendar in my childhood. And he took me there, without knowing the names. I felt like stepping into a fairy tale. Highly recommend for those who want to go beyond fridge magnets from tourist shops.
